Article Key Points

Remedy Entertainment released an update for Alan Wake 2, fixing issues including audio cutting out, an Echo scene not unlocking, and a progress-halting bug.

The update resolves issues across all platforms and offers a temporary solution for the audio problem in the opening prologue. Although there remain additional bugs in the game requiring attention, Remedy's prompt response is praiseworthy.

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake 2, has released a minor update to address player issues. Alan Wake 2, launched recently after a thirteen-year gap since the original in 2010, is receiving praise as one of the top new games of 2023, a year filled with AAA blockbuster hits.

Continuing from where the first game left off, Alan Wake 2 introduces a new co-protagonist named Saga Anderson, an FBI agent partnered with Alex Casey. Their objective is to investigate a cultist murder in Bright Falls. Remedy Entertainment has ventured into full-blown survival horror for the first time with Alan Wake 2, incorporating elements like an inventory system reminiscent of Resident Evil, along with tactical combat from a third-person perspective. Saga also adds an investigation system that allows players to piece together evidence they discover throughout the game.

Remedy has recently announced an update for Alan Wake 2, just under two weeks after its launch. This update aims to address a few significant issues that have been causing frustration among Xbox players. Specifically, the patch focuses on resolving an audio problem that occurs during the game's opening prologue, where players control a drenched and weary man on the shore of Cauldron Lake. The audio would previously cut out, causing annoyance and disrupting gameplay. Fortunately, this update brings a temporary workaround to alleviate the issue. Moreover, Remedy promises a long-term solution in a future update.

This update addresses two significant issues that have affected all platforms. The first is a problem with an Echo orb scene in Room 665 chapter, which was not registering correctly. Echoes are small orbs of light and darkness that players can encounter. When aligned by the player, they unlock a crucial dialogue scene in the story. Despite previous attempts to fix this particular Echo, it has persisted. The second issue is a bug in the Local Girl chapter, which completely halts the player's progress. The previous patch for Alan Wake 2 included over 200 fixes, and while this new update only brings three, they are all crucial for a smooth player experience, especially the progress-halting bug in the Local Girl chapter.

Although there are still other bugs in Alan Wake 2 that need attention, it is commendable to see Remedy being responsive and addressing many of the issues. As Remedy continues to patch the game throughout November, the upcoming Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards will be taking place. It will be interesting to see if Alan Wake 2 manages to secure a Game of the Year nomination in a year filled with high-quality AAA game releases.

Alan Wake 2 is finally here, and it's a thrilling return to the creepy town of Bright Falls. The game picks up where the original left off, with Alan Wake still struggling to come to terms with the events of the first game. This time, he's joined by a new co-protagonist, Saga Anderson, an FBI agent who is investigating a series of murders in Bright Falls.

One of the things that makes Alan Wake 2 so special is its atmosphere. The game does an incredible job of creating a sense of dread and suspense, and you can't help but feel like you're in danger at all times. The visuals are stunning, and the sound design is top-notch. The voice acting is also excellent, and the characters are all memorable and well-developed.
