Alan Wake 2 invites fans to once again step into the shoes of the protagonist, Alan Wake, an author determined to rewrite reality and correct his past mistakes. In addition to its shift towards survival horror and intense combat scenarios, the sequel offers players numerous mind-bending sections and puzzles. Some of these puzzles are integral to the main storyline, while others provide optional hidden challenges and secret tasks. Although these tasks are not necessary for progression, players who undertake them will often be rewarded with additional narrative content and various useful supplies, such as ammunition and health packs.
In one of the side objectives of Alan Wake 2, players can explore the Oceanview Hotel during the chapter "Initiation 5: Room 665." While touring this mysterious hotel, players may stumble upon a locked room on the second floor known as Room 209. Faint humming can be heard from within, leading players to suspect that this may be another hiding spot for Sheriff Tim Breaker in this reality. Those seeking a quick solution will find that the key to Room 209 can be found in Room 206. However, obtaining the key is not as straightforward as simply proceeding to that room. Players who are struggling to find the key can follow the steps below for guidance on how to obtain it.
Where (And How) To Get Oceanview Hotel Room 209 Key In Alan Wake 2
Starting at the main entrance on the first floor of Oceanview Hotel, go north and then take the left hallway to reach Room 104. In an peculiar display of the Dark Place's dream logic, this will actually transport the player to one of the secure areas on the second floor of Alan Wake 2, specifically Room 225. If players now attempt to access Room 206 from the nearest slanting eastern hallway, they will discover that the door is locked. Fortunately, there is an alternative route to get inside.
Get Inside Room 206
From the second-floor safe room, proceed south along the lengthy, straight hallway, passing both the stairwell and Room 219. Continue towards Room 206 from this vantage point. Upon arrival, players will observe that, in yet another instance of the hotel's perplexing rules, it is actually designated as Room 216. Nevertheless, it is advisable for players to enter the room at this juncture, where they will witness the aftermath of a lively gathering hosted by the previous guests.
Just inside the room, players will discover the key to room 209 conveniently placed on a table. To exit, simply unlock the door on the eastern side from within, providing a seamless return to the slanted section of the hallway. Once again, proceed to the intended destination, room 209.
Unlock Room 209 & Find Sherriff Breaker
Players are now able to freely return to Room 209 and utilize the recently discovered key to unlock it. Once inside, they will come across the source of the previously heard sounds, which turns out to be the friendly face of Sheriff Tim Breaker. Engaging in additional dialogue, Sheriff Tim references one of Alan Wake 2's Easter eggs relating to a well-known television show that Alan is familiar with. Furthermore, players can also gather various supplies from Tim's stashes located on the side. However, the most significant find is Tim's map hanging on the wall. This map conveniently marks all the Words of Power scattered throughout the Oceanview Hotel.
With Room 209's mystery resolved and Tim feeling a bit relieved, players can now proceed with the remaining section of the chapter. Alternatively, Alan has the option to leave the Hotel and head to the nearby safe room to continue Saga Anderson's storyline back in Bright Falls.
Editor's P/S
Alan Wake 2 is finally here, and fans of the original game are in for a treat. The sequel takes everything that made the first game great and builds on it, delivering a thrilling and suspenseful experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
One of the things that I love most about Alan Wake 2 is the way it expands on the lore of the first game. We learn more about the Dark Place and its inhabitants, and we get a deeper understanding of Alan Wake's own story. The game also does a great job of tying up some of the loose ends from the first game, while still leaving enough room for future sequels.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with Alan Wake 2. It is a worthy successor to the original game, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first game or who is looking for a great action-horror game.
