The locations have grown in size, making them easier to get lost in, and are accompanied by an abundance of new secrets and puzzles for players to discover and solve. Although not essential for progress in Alan Wake 2, players who choose to explore these additional elements will be rewarded with extra story details, as well as useful supplies and items.

Throughout the game, there are numerous optional side events hidden away from the main path. These events often involve cult stashes, which can only be accessed by deciphering codes or solving puzzles. Additionally, players will encounter perplexing nursery rhymes that can be unraveled. Alan Wake 2: Solution To Watery Nursery Rhyme #1 Puzzle

In the chapter titled Return 3: Local Girl, players will take on the role of FBI agent Saga Anderson, who must navigate the flooded areas of the appropriately named suburb of Watery. Following a conversation with the Kalevala brothers, players will be guided along a woodland trail. As they proceed along the meandering path towards the north, it eventually curves east. At this point, players have the option to either continue east and north or venture south on a smaller trail. Opting for the latter will lead players to a small, secluded overlook situated here:

Here, players will encounter an additional nursery rhyme arrangement prepared by the enigmatic Federal Bureau of Control. This secretive organization is delving into the perplexing and capricious attributes of Bright Falls and Caldron Lake through their own research endeavors.

Although many players may already possess some of the necessary dolls for these puzzles, this particular one necessitates a new doll that is currently obtainable. To locate the moose doll, players should examine the top of the equipment situated to the right of the chalk drawings.

After adding the doll to their inventory, players then need only to place the moose doll on the chalk drawing of the tree at the bottom right of the rhyme circle:

Take the moose doll from the monitoring equipment to the right of the chalk drawings.

Place it on the chalk drawing of the large tree in the bottom right.

As soon as the moose doll is placed there, Saga will comment on its accuracy. Players can then proceed along the original path, where they will immediately spot a significant alteration in the surroundings—a colossal moose statue now obstructs the road ahead.

Approaching it, players will discover a coffee mug charm positioned under the left leg of the statue. Once acquired, players have the ability to equip this charm onto Saga's charm bracelet, which grants her temporary invulnerability, allowing her to withstand one fatal event. However, it is important to note that the charm will shatter and become unusable thereafter.
