Alan Wake 2: Complete Guide to Finding All Words of Power and their Locations

In Alan Wake 2's Dark Place, players can explore the protagonist's section and come across scattered Words of Power symbols. These symbols serve as collectibles that can be gathered to enhance various aspects of Alan's abilities. Players can upgrade defensive stats, such as health restoration and damage reduction, as well as modify weapons to have a chance of not depleting bullets when fired. Additionally, flashlight upgrades are available, including the ability to restore battery charge by defeating enemies. These Words of Power upgrades are essential for players to successfully navigate through Alan Wake 2's captivating narrative. How To Collect Words of Power in Alan Wake 2

While venturing into the Dark Place through Alan Wake's narrative, The Initiation, players will come across vibrant yellow arrows that serve as indicators for the presence of a Words of Power symbol in the vicinity. Simply follow the direction of these arrows - at times, they may lead to a second arrow, in which case, continue following the direction indicated by the second arrow. The final arrow in the sequence will guide players to the exact location of the symbol, which may sometimes be concealed behind destructible objects or barriers that can be bypassed by manipulating the light.

All Words of Power Types and Locations

Once players have located the symbol, they should aim their flashlight at it from the correct angle in order to collect a Words of Power point, which can be spent in the Writer's Room. There is no need to use a focused charge attack; simply shine the flashlight at the symbol and adjust your position left and right, forward and back, until you can hear the audio of burning. Hold this position for a few moments, and the Words of Power point will become available. If you're having trouble finding the right angle, aiming down sights can help you quickly locate a position that will collect the symbol.

Players will come across various types of Words of Power in the game, each impacting different aspects of Alan's attributes. Each type offers three unique upgrades that can be unlocked and further improved twice, enabling players to customize Alan's abilities and statistics to their liking for every playthrough.

Words of Fix 1

Players will come across their initial Words of Fix right after leaving the TV Studio, but they won't be able to pick up this symbol until they locate the revolver and flashlight. To obtain it, proceed along Wheeler Street, following the sidewalk that runs alongside the studio. Eventually, players will stumble upon the Words of Fix symbol situated between a dumpster and a row of payphones on the ground.

Look down at the symbol from the edge of the sidewalk, and the burning audio should begin to play.

Words of Fix 2

The second Words of Fix will be unveiled to players once they have interacted with Agent Casey in The Dark Place alleyway. Upon returning to the alley, the walls will be adorned with vibrant graffiti, and players will notice the presence of yellow designation arrows on these walls. Just before reaching the final doorway leading back to the alley, players should direct their gaze upwards, above the exit door, where they will find the symbol for Words of Fix.

If players have difficulty collecting this symbol, try aiming down sights while walking backward, away from the symbol, until the audio cue plays.

Words of Lamp 1

Players of Lamp will encounter their first clue on the rooftops beyond the raised subway platform near Caldera St Subway Station. Cross the tracks and exit the platform onto the rooftops. Then, ascend the ladder located on the left side.

On the rooftop above, proceed to the left and enter the roof access door which leads to a small staircase descending to another rooftop. Once you pass the safe room on the left, keep an eye out for the yellow arrows. Stand at the top of the half staircase, glance downward to the right, and spot the first Words of Lamp.

Words of Action 1

Players will come across a Words of Action symbol beneath the raised subway tracks. To locate it, they should proceed in a northerly direction along the tracks towards Caldera Street. On the right side of the street, players will observe a yellow arrow displayed on one of the steel support beams. Once the arrow is identified, they should direct their gaze upward beneath the tracks to discover the initial Words of Action.

Words of War 1

Players can discover the initial Words of War when they arrive at the taxi on Caldera Street, which is identifiable by its illuminated headlights. Before proceeding to secure the light in the Angel Lamp and initiate the subsequent battle against shadows, players should direct their attention to the left side of the taxi. By ascending the ladder to the billboard railing, they can then traverse the scaffolding leading to a rooftop area adorned with air conditioning units. To find the first Words of War, players should peer downwards behind the initial AC unit.

If players are having difficulty collecting this symbol, try standing against the middle AC unit and aiming down sights, looking at the symbol, and walking backwards slowly.

Words of Gun 1

Players can acquire their first Words of Gun near the taxi on Caldera Street by overcoming the opposition of the shadows and securing the illumination required for accessing this symbol of Power. Once the shadows have been vanquished, ascend the half staircase located in front of the car, which has transformed into a police cruiser without the light. Direct your gaze towards the left wall and, near its highest point, the Words of Gun will be discovered.

Try shining the flashlight on this symbol from different distances if not collected easily.

Words of Aid 1

In the subway tunnels just prior to the Collapsed Tunnel scene, players can discover the initial Words of Aid. Departing from the save room, veer to the left and navigate around the subway car instead of entering it. Proceed to the rear wall, turn around, and face towards the subway car. The Words of Aid will be located on a wall concealed behind several blocks of concrete.

Words of Lamp 2

Discover the upcoming Words of Lamp by progressing through the Transformed Collapsed Tunnel scene and entering the adjoining room with the Echo. Prior to arranging the spheres, explore the store room with the lockers and direct your gaze towards the East wall to locate the Words of Lamp concealed behind the shelving units.

Words of War 2

To discover the next Words of War, ascend the ladder leading to the Derailed Train scene. Upon reaching the top, pivot and make your way underneath the scaffolding. While proceeding straight ahead, keep an eye on the ceiling where a collection of pipes conceals the Words of War. Additionally, don't forget to explore a searchable crate located in the vicinity.

Words of Action 2

Upon reaching the Derailed Train scene, players will come across an additional Words of Action symbol. Upon descending the lengthy ladder, meticulously explore the room on the right-hand side. Directly behind some weathered gray wooden planks, observable through the presence of yellow designation arrows, lies a concealed symbol. Dislodge the planks by taking precise shots to uncover the hidden Words of Action.

Words of Lamp 3

Once you've solved the lamp puzzle and accessed Shrine Street Station, be on the lookout for another Words of Lamp symbol in the subways. After finishing the puzzle, a staircase leading down to flooded train tracks will be to your left. Keep your eyes peeled along the south wall where you'll come across graffiti referencing Mr. Scratch. Look up and to the right, where you'll spot the pristine wall adjacent to the graffiti-covered one. In the top corner of that clean wall, you'll find the Words of Lamp symbol.

Words of Gun 2

At Shrine Street station, players will come across another Words of Power symbol. After passing through the train car, immediately stop upon exiting the doors. Turn to the left and observe the side of the adjacent train car for the Words of Gun symbol. Caution is advised as there are shadows in the vicinity that may become hostile if players stray too far from the train car. Players have the option to eliminate all shadows in the area before safely obtaining the Words of Gun.

While this Words of Power symbol can be seen from inside the train car, players will have to be outside the car to collect it.

Words of Gun 3

Once players discover and examine the crime scene and the adjacent Echo, they will proceed towards two doors that return them to Caldera Street Station. Upon reaching the station, take a right to spot yellow arrows directing towards a train car window. Peer through the window to locate the Words of Gun symbol adorning the train car's interior wall.
