With the highly anticipated release of AEW: Fight Forever just around the corner, Yuke's has provided a preview of the complete roster that players will be able to choose from at launch. This roster will include a mixture of wrestling legends, current stars, and even one who has returned to WWE. Unlike the WWE 2K series, which focuses on a realistic simulation-style gameplay, AEW: Fight Forever aims to deliver a nostalgic arcade-style experience reminiscent of iconic games like WWF No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge. As a result, the launch roster may have some notable absences, with plans to include these missing characters as downloadable content in the future.
The announcement of AEW: Fight Forever took place in November 2020, marking the debut title for the young wrestling company. Developed by Yuke's, a former WWE video game developer, the game's intention, as stated by AEW star Kenny Omega, is to capture the essence of beloved late 90s wrestling games. It will feature easy-to-learn gameplay, a variety of match types, and additional mini-games to enhance the overall experience. After several updates, AEW: Fight Forever is finally set to release in June 2023, following AEW's Forbidden Door crossover pay-per-view event with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Yuka Sakazaki is part of Fight Forever's diverse roster, comprising of talented individuals who have come from various backgrounds. This includes homegrown stars, former-WWE wrestlers, and legendary figures, offering fans a wide range of choices. Additionally, the roster will continue to expand with the inclusion of new stars in future DLC packs. It is worth mentioning that Cody Rhodes, a former-AEW star and a pivotal figure in the establishment of AEW in 2019, is also featured in the game, confirming his significance in the promotion as stated by Kenny Omega.
However, it is notable that the launch roster has some notable omissions, considering the immense popularity and star power of many wrestlers not included in the initial release. Nevertheless, fans can look forward to the season one pass, which will introduce seven noteworthy stars to the roster, including FTR, Keith Lee, The Bunny, Hook, and Danhausen. Additionally, those who have pre-ordered the game will have the opportunity to play as Matt Hardy in his Hardys and Broken variants.
