Initial reactions to AEW Fight Forever have been mixed, with some applauding its simpler and nostalgic gameplay, while others criticizing its technical problems on the PS4 and its lack of features compared to WWE 2K23.

One intriguing revelation was the introduction of Fight Forever’s Stadium Stampede mode, a thrilling multiplayer battle royale match type that was accidentally leaked shortly after its launch. Additionally, Omega teased the inclusion of expanded customization options for the game’s character creation suite and hinted at the arrival of new wrestlers. Despite keeping the specifics under wraps, Omega emphasized, "This game will constantly evolve and surprise you. You have only scratched the surface of what I'm genuinely thrilled about."
Regarding the addition of existing wrestlers to AEW Fight Forever, Kenny Omega has suggested that there may be representation from Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Currently, six post-launch DLC wrestlers have been confirmed, including the AEW Tag Team Champions, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood. These wrestlers will be included in the upcoming expansion of Fight Forever, known as the "Elite Edition".
AEW Fight Forever has been regarded as a promising debut for the young wrestling promotion, reminiscent of classic wrestling games like WWF No Mercy. However, it is widely agreed that there is still room for improvement. Fortunately, THQ appears to be making additions to the game after its initial release.
