Uzo Aduba and her husband, Robert Sweeting, are officially parents after welcoming their first baby, daughter Adaiba Lee Nonyem.
"Never in my life have I experienced such quick and deep love. I am at a loss for words," Aduba, 42, shared on Instagram on Thursday, November 30th. "My heart is overflowing with joy and gratitude. Witnessing this miraculous event has left me feeling immensely blessed."
She went on to say, "We love you dearly, Adaiba Lee Nonyem — Daughter of the people, carrying the legacy of the women who came before you. ... I'm officially a Mommy now. Motherhood has welcomed me into its ranks. I've heard the dues are high, but the rewards are immeasurable."
In June, the former Orange Is the New Black star revealed that she and her husband were expecting their first child, showing off her baby bump at the Tony Awards. "My husband Robert and I are thrilled to start this new journey as parents. I am absolutely ecstatic," Aduba shared on Instagram. "I can't believe I get to be someone's Mommy! As we grow as a family, our primary goal will be to shower you with love, little one. Wow. Look at what God has blessed us with."
Weeks later, Sweeting was celebrated by the In Treatment actress on Father’s Day. “Father-to-be. I love how great you are going to be in this role, @robertsweetinglife,” she captioned an Instagram post that June. “I love you so much and appreciate everything you have been to us on this journey. Thank you for being an incredible father. Already. #fathersday.”

During Aduba's pregnancy, Sweeting devoted a lot of attention to his wife, ensuring she had everything she needed, from a cup of tea to a pillow for her back. A source exclusively revealed to We in June that "Ryan's been so sweet and doting toward Uzo. He'll fix her breakfast so she can stay in bed longer." The insider also shared that the couple were "so grateful" and "excited" to meet their little one.
Aduba and Sweeting had been discreet about their relationship, but they surprised everyone by announcing in September 2021 that they had actually gotten married in secret a year before.
Sweeting took to Instagram to express his love and admiration for Aduba, commemorating their one-year anniversary. He described her as gorgeous, talented, and incredible, and expressed how the past year had made him realize the fragility of life and the importance of truly living it. Despite the chaos in the world, they had found joy and peace in each other, and he proudly declared that she was the greatest person he had ever known, and he was honored to be her husband.

Aduba later revealed the reason for keeping their romance private, explaining during an appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan two months later, "We were taking the year to ourselves to enjoy some quiet time together, and then we were having our anniversary come up. We did it quietly and with a small group of our most loved and closest family and friends. It was awesome."
