Raising animals plays a crucial role in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, as players assume control of their father's abandoned farm in the quaint village of Forgotten Valley. Alongside cultivating crops, animals serve as a significant source of income for the farm. Initially beginning with a Cow, players have the opportunity to acquire other animal species, such as a Goat.
Once players reach a specific point in the gameplay, they can purchase a Nanny Goat. Investing in a Goat proves beneficial as its milk fetches a high price when sold. To obtain a Goat in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, here's everything players need to know.
How To Purchase A Goat
In Year One, players are unable to acquire a Goat through the Ledger. However, in Year Two, they have the option to purchase a Nanny Goat from Van, a traveling salesman who visits Forgotten Valley on specific dates - the third and eighth of each season.
During the Spring Season, Van will have one Nanny Goat available for purchase in his inventory at a price of 40,000G. To afford it, players can accumulate funds by selling various animal products, flowers, fish, and resources in Forgotten Valley. While farm-grown items can be sold through the Shipping Bin, flowers, fish, and herbs can only be sold to Van.
During the Spring Season, you can find the Nanny Goat exclusively at Van's shop. To make sure you can bring one home, make sure you have enough space in your barn. The starter barn can accommodate up to eight animals, but if you need more room, you can upgrade to a larger barn that can hold 16 animals. This upgrade is available for purchase on the Ledger for a price of 120,000G. Once you've purchased the Nanny Goat from Van, you will accompany him back to your barn where you can give her a name.
What Are Goats Used For?
Goats, like cows, can be milked once a day. The quantity and quality of milk they produce are influenced by factors such as the season and their overall well-being. To monitor their goat's happiness, players can check their heart levels on the black chalkboard in the barn. Daily interactions such as cuddling, feeding, brushing, and talking to the goats help to build affection. It is important to note that goats do not produce milk on the first day of the new year, but by Spring Two, they will resume milk production. If players have an available space in their barn, they can obtain a second goat in Year Three.
Goat milk is a highly valuable resource on the farm, second only to sheep wool. Its selling price is determined by its grade:
Grade | Sell Price |
---|---|
B | 520G |
A | 660G |
S | 800G |
