9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 5: Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley's Unexpected Encounter on a Double Date

Fresh preview images from an upcoming episode of 9-1-1's Season 7 capture Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley in a surprising rendezvous during their double dates, leading to an amusingly awkward situation for both.

It seems like things are about to get awkward for Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1 as they end up on a double date together.

New images from season 7 episode 5, released on Monday, April 8, reveal the two friends unexpectedly meeting at a restaurant. Eddie is accompanied by his new girlfriend, Marisol, while Buck is out on a date with Tommy. Some pictures show the couples having a good time, but others show them feeling uneasy about the situation.

A teaser for the upcoming episode, released on Thursday, April 4th, hints at some trouble ahead. Tommy wonders why Buck seems tense in the clip, but Buck reassures him that he's not uncomfortable being out with another guy for the first time. However, his mood quickly changes when Eddie approaches, causing Buck to react in horror.

This awkward moment will be shown on Thursday, April 11th, following a surprising turn of events in the previous episode of 9-1-1. In the show's 100th episode titled "Buck, Bothered and Bewildered," viewers watched as Buck struggled to get Eddie's attention while his best friend grew closer to Tommy. Despite hopes from fans that Buck would reveal his romantic feelings for Eddie, the episode took a different turn in the end. It was revealed that Buck's interest was actually in Tommy, leading to a surprising kiss between the two.

After the episode aired, Stark, 32, shared on social media that he felt "humbled" and "overwhelmed" by the positive response to the reveal. He mentioned that this storyline is here to stay and expressed pride in reading all the messages from fans on his Instagram Stories.

Following the positive reception, the actor also took a moment to address those who were upset about 9-1-1 introducing another queer character to its cast. Since season 1, Aisha Hinds and Tracie Thoms have portrayed a lesbian couple, while recurring characters like Josh and Michael, played by Bryan Safi and Rockmond Dunbar, have been part of the show for years.

"If you are one of the few people leaving negative comments on my posts about how this has ruined the show, I want to let you know that I really don't care," he expressed. "This show is all about love and acceptance. It has showcased queer relationships from the very start, including a beautiful Black lesbian marriage portrayed by two incredibly talented actresses."

Before the episode aired, Stark had an exclusive chat with We and hinted at how Buck's sexual discovery would bring him a sense of relief as he progresses towards finding happiness.

"And I believe that this is the story we are beginning to uncover here. Buck may not realize what he is searching for or what is missing in his life," he shared with Us. "As he gradually comes to understand, it brings a sense of release and freedom. He can finally relax and let out a sigh of relief."

'9-1-1' Season 7 Episode 5 Stills Show Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley's Awkward Double Date

It seems like Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1 are going to experience a pretty awkward double date.

New images from season 7 episode 5, released on Monday, April 8, depict the close friends unexpectedly meeting at a restaurant. Eddie is accompanied by his new girlfriend, Marisol, while Buck is out on a date with Tommy. Some pictures show the couples having a good time together, but others reveal the group feeling uneasy as they bump into each other.

A promotional teaser for the upcoming episode, released on Thursday, April 4, hints that things are not going smoothly for the characters. Tommy questions why Buck seems tense in the clip, but Buck reassures him that he is not uncomfortable being out with another guy. However, Buck's mood takes a turn when Eddie approaches, causing him to react in horror.

The tense moment will be shown on Thursday, April 11, a week after the last episode surprised fans by allowing Buck to explore his attraction to men. In the show's 100th episode titled "Buck, Bothered and Bewildered," Buck spends the hour trying to get Eddie's attention as Eddie grows closer to Tommy. While many viewers hoped Buck would confess his romantic feelings for Eddie, the episode took a different turn in the end. It was revealed that Buck's interest was actually in Tommy, leading to a surprising kiss between the two characters.

After the episode aired, Stark, 32, shared on social media that he felt "humbled" and "overwhelmed" by the positive response to the reveal. He mentioned that this storyline is here to stay and expressed pride in reading the many messages from fans on his Instagram Stories.

In addition, the actor addressed those who were upset about 9-1-1 introducing another queer character to its cast. Aisha Hinds and Tracie Thoms have portrayed a lesbian couple since season 1, while recurring characters like Josh and Michael, played by Bryan Safi and Rockmond Dunbar, have been part of the show for years.

"I want to make it clear that if you are among the few who have commented on my posts saying that this has ruined the show, I want you to know that I really don't care," he expressed. "This show is all about love and acceptance. It has always featured queer relationships, including a beautiful Black lesbian marriage portrayed by two incredibly talented actresses."

Before the episode aired, Stark had an exclusive chat with We and hinted at how Buck's sexual awakening would bring him a "big sigh of relief" as he continues on his path to finding happiness.

"And I think that’s kind of the story that we’re able to start to tell here," he told Us. "Buck isn’t consciously aware of the thing that he’s looking for or what’s lacking in his life. As he hopefully starts to discover that, it’s this cathartic, liberating feeling of just being able to ease into it and breathe out this big sigh of relief at last."
