Zach, the eldest son of Matt and Amy Roloff, comes from a family that split in 2016. He has siblings Jeremy (his twin), Jacob, and Molly. After the divorce, Amy sold her shares of the Roloff Farms property in Oregon to Matt.

In 2021, nearly five years later, Matt decided not to sell a portion of the land to Zach before putting up 16 acres for sale. He said that none of his children were interested in inheriting the farm, a statement that Zach has disagreed with.

Zach and Tori, both 31 years old, announced their decision to leave the family's reality series in a YouTube video that was uploaded in February. In the video, Tori stated, "We have decided not to return to Little People, Big World. We are closing that chapter for good."

Zach also shared his thoughts on their departure, mentioning that there were various reasons behind their choice to step away from the show, which first aired in 2006.
