Soccer player Davian Kimbrough created history in US sports by making his debut for the Sacramento Republic at the age of 13. During Sacramentos 2-0 triumph over the Las Vegas Lights, Kimbrough entered the game as a substitute in the 87th minute, securing his position as the youngest professional athlete in American team sports. The match took place at Heart Health Park and drew a full house, as reported by the Sacramento Republic website.

At the age of 13 years, seven months, and 13 days, Kimbrough achieved the title of the youngest professional soccer player to debut in a competitive match. Prior to this, the record belonged to Axel Kei, who made his debut at the age of 13 months, nine months, and nine days on October 8, 2021, playing for the Real Monarchs against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.

Sacramento Republic, a club competing in the USL Championship, the second-tier of American soccer, has announced that Maximo Carizzo from New York City FC 2s, set a new milestone in 2022 as the youngest professional athlete in American team sports.

With the victory, Sacramento remains in first place in the Western Conference.

Kimbrough made history in August when he signed with Sacramento, becoming the youngest professional athlete in the history of team sports in the United States. At just 11 years old, Kimbrough joined the team's academy set-up in 2021 and showcased his impressive skills by scoring 27 goals in 31 matches, leading a team of players who were a year older than him.

In his first season at the club's youth academy, he made significant contributions to the Republic's Under-13 team, which achieved an outstanding record of 30 wins and only one loss. Remarkably, they started the season with an unbeaten run of 27 consecutive wins.

Continuing his impressive performance, Kimbrough joined the Under-14 team the following year and played a crucial part in helping them secure first place in their division in MLS Next, the youth league of Major League Soccer. Dominating their opponents, the Republic outscored them by a remarkable margin of 148-22. During his two seasons in MLS Next, Kimbrough showcased his talent with an impressive tally of 61 goals in 81 appearances.

Sacramento will have home-field advantage for the Western Conference quarterfinal match on October 21, following its last regular season game. This information is confirmed on the club's website, taking into account the recent weekend results.
