What is the reason for our delay? Concerning Yellowstone Season 5, many fans are frustrated over Taylor Sheridan's apparent inability to complete his initial plans. The delay in airing the second half of Season 5, originally scheduled for November 2023, has left fans eagerly waiting for an additional year due to ongoing setbacks.
Yellowstone Season 5 has become one of the most-watched shows in recent years, but the news hasn't been well-received, especially with Kevin Costner distancing himself from the franchise. As November 2024 approaches, fans are publicly expressing their displeasure and urging series creator Taylor Sheridan to "finish" the season.
Yellowstone fans tell Taylor Sheridan to “finish” Season 5
Over on Reddit, Yellowstone fans have been ripping into Taylor Sheridan in the hopes of getting him to “finish” Season 5.
The series creator has been juggling multiple projects in recent months, including serving as an executive producer on Lawmen: Bass Reeves, leading some users to believe that it is causing delays in the completion of the series. Reddit user MohoneyinMO expressed frustration, calling for the creators to prioritize finishing the last season rather than taking on new projects. They emphasized the need to deliver what fans are eagerly waiting for, suggesting that the wait may be worth it if the creator were less overloaded with other commitments.
"Once the next season is finally completed, Rip will probably end up looking like Lloyd," one fan quipped, while another joked, "They'll need a ramp into the bunk house and the guys will be working cattle from Hoover round scooters." Yet another fan expressed frustration, stating, "I might take a break from Taylor Sheridan shows until I see one actually finished. I've enjoyed every show I've seen from him, but the uncertainty of whether it will be completed or not is frustrating."
In 2023, Taylor Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter that he will always tell stories "his way," saying: "When I quit acting, I decided that I am going to tell my stories my way, period. If you don’t want me to tell them, fine. Give them back and I’ll find someone who does – or I won’t, and then I’ll read them in some freaking dinner theater. But I won’t compromise. There is no compromising.”
But when it comes to Yellowstone’s current release timeline, this approach isn’t sitting well with the fanbase.
"It's ridiculous how long we have to wait between seasons of streaming shows. If you told someone 20 years ago that they'd have to wait over a year for the next season, they'd think you were insane," commented one Reddit user.
"Costner's schedule and demands caused the filming of the second half of Season 5 to stop. Then there was a writer and actor strike. Once the strikes were over, it was winter in Montana," another fan explained.
"Sheridan was adamant that the show's schedule was not his responsibility, and he never made any production wait for his scripts on any show he worked on."

As a Gen Z fan of Yellowstone, I am disappointed and frustrated by the delay in the release of Season 5, Part 2. I understand that Taylor Sheridan is a busy man with multiple projects, but I believe that he should prioritize completing the current season before taking on new ones. The fans have been eagerly waiting for the second half of the season, and it is unfair to keep us waiting for an additional year. I hope that Sheridan will reconsider his decision and focus on finishing Yellowstone Season 5 as soon as possible.
I also find it concerning that Kevin Costner is distancing himself from the franchise. Costner is one of the main stars of the show, and his departure would be a huge blow to the series. I hope that Sheridan and Costner can work out their differences and find a way to keep Costner on the show. Without him, Yellowstone would not be the same.
