Will Smith seems unfazed as Jada Pinkett Smith carries on with her Worthy memoir press tour. In his "official statement," shared on Instagram on October 17, the 55-year-old actor casually stated, "I have something to share with you... my opinion." The accompanying video showcased Smith sneezing briefly, followed by a montage of serene landscapes, such as a waterfall and a beach.
In a recent interview on the "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" podcast, Pinkett Smith, 52, briefly mentioned that Smith had differing thoughts about her book. Reading aloud a letter from Smith, she shared, "I have just finished Worthy and it is truly astonishing. Despite spending the majority of my life beside you, I found myself surprised, moved, and emotionally on a rollercoaster. My reactions ranged from laughter to inspiration to heartbreak. It was quite an experience."
The pair got married in 1997, but Pinkett Smith revealed earlier this month that they quietly separated in 2016.
The letter praised the potent condensed version of your story, acknowledging that it must have been challenging to delve into such depths. The writer expressed overwhelming emotions upon hearing the anecdotes, comparing it to a family barbecue. The writer applauded and honored you for your efforts.
Despite the obstacles they have faced in their relationship, Pinkett Smith emphasized their commitment to repairing their marriage.
During an interview on the Today show on October 16, she stated, "We have not filed for divorce. We are actively working on rebuilding our relationship and restoring our life partnership."
The first-time author noted that she has no plans to find “another great love,” noting that she and Smith are in a “deep, healing space” at this moment.
Jada Pinkett Smith gained attention in 2020 when news broke about her involvement with August Alsina, famously referred to as an "entanglement." While initially denying any romantic connection with Alsina, the actress, known for her role in Gotham, has now admitted to being involved with him intimately during a period when she and Smith were separated.
"We are deeply committed to repairing our relationship," she stated on Monday. "I must embrace his humanity and accept him as he is. He embraces my own humanity and we aspire to love one another unconditionally."
Meanwhile, Smith has remained quiet amidst the media frenzy. He simply captioned an Instagram video on Sunday, October 15, with "Notifications off," as he enjoyed himself on a boat.
Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22, the children of the duo, have remained silent on the matter. Nevertheless, Pinkett Smith disclosed that they were well aware whenever their parents encountered difficulties throughout the years.
During her recent appearance on the "On Purpose" podcast on Monday, she expressed, "I believe that one of the crucial elements that helped us was the absence of secrets between Will and me. The same applied to my children and me."
She added, “The fact that my family was absolutely aware of the entire journey, it was a saving grace for me.”
