Why Star Wars Fans Need an Epic Starfield Experience

Star Wars Outlaws players can take to the skies with their own spacecraft, but will the game have the same level of ship customization as Starfield? Let's explore how this feature could elevate the gameplay experience

The long-awaited Star Wars Outlaws has finally been revealed by Ubisoft, and from what we've seen so far, it looks promising. Players will take on the role of Kay Vess, a cunning rogue, and her endearing companion Nix as they traverse the galaxy on a thrilling adventure through the Outer Rim in what is being touted as the first-ever fully open-world Star Wars game. While fans may debate this claim, the gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws appears to offer everything a Star Wars enthusiast could ask for. However, incorporating Starfield's captivating ship customization feature could elevate the game's experience to even greater heights. After all, Bethesda's upcoming sci-fi game Starfield will be offering players unparalleled control over every aspect of their adventure, from shaping the storyline to customizing the spacecraft they will call home. This concept would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the Star Wars Outlaws universe.

Star Wars Outlaws Could Excel with Ship Customization

Why Star Wars Fans Need an Epic Starfield Experience

In Star Wars Outlaws, players will have control of Kay Vess' ship, however, they will not have the ability to customize its appearance. The brief gameplay preview showcased the exterior and interior of the vessel as it took off into the sky, giving players the opportunity to control it as it exits the planet's atmosphere and fly it through space. Unlike its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, players will be able to participate in classic Star Wars space combat, make the jump to lightspeed, and travel to the next planet. This game appears to draw some inspiration from the underappreciated Star Wars: Squadrons, making it a refreshing addition to the franchise.

It appears that players may not have the ability to fully customize their ships in the upcoming game, which could be a disappointment for some. Unlike Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, where players can at least change the exterior paint of their ship, it seems that Ubisoft has not included this feature. While it's possible that the studio may reveal customization options at a later time, players may be stuck with the same ship design throughout their journey. However, if Ubisoft were to take inspiration from Starfield, which allows players to customize every aspect of their spacecraft, including attaching modules and building their dream ship, it could add a new level of excitement and creativity to the game. The possibilities would be endless, and players could continue to create unique ships for years to come.

The ship customization in Starfield is truly exceptional, setting a new standard for sci-fi RPGs. Other games would benefit from incorporating this feature, especially titles like Star Wars Outlaws. The ships in Star Wars have always been a beloved aspect of the franchise, and allowing players to design their own vessels would add a whole new level of excitement to the game. While it may be too late to implement a customization system as advanced as Starfield's, it would be fantastic to see this feature included in future Star Wars games. Fans can look forward to experiencing Star Wars Outlaws on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
