Director Damian Marcano hinted at the possibility of turning the Bass Reeves series into an anthology, stating in a recent interview with Digital Spy that while plans for a continuation haven't been officially ruled out, he would love for the series to continue if there is enough interest from viewers. He expressed his fondness for the subject matter and filming location, suggesting that if there is sufficient demand, the series could potentially evolve into a standalone anthology.

“Clearly, at this juncture, the series is an anthology that will focus on a distinct lawman in each season, but David Oyelowo has certainly set a high standard for the future,” he continued.
