West Ham stuns Tottenham in nail-biting pre-season clash as Ange Postecoglou faces early setback

West Ham triumphs over Tottenham in an exhilarating pre-season match, handing Ange Postecoglou a defeat in his debut as Spurs' manager

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou faced his first defeat in charge as West Ham emerged victorious in an exhilarating pre-season friendly in Australia, with a 3-2 scoreline. Gianluca Scamacca played a crucial role by netting the winning goal in the 78th minute, shortly after Tottenham had made an impressive comeback to equalize after being 2-0 down.

Despite the defeat, Postecoglou would have been encouraged by his side's attacking display after Tottenham had 30 shots and 71 per cent possession.

However, West Ham capitalized on defensive mistakes and successfully converted three out of their four shots on goal in Perth. In the first half, they secured a comfortable 2-0 lead with two well-executed headers. Danny Ings opened the scoring in the 18th minute, followed by Divin Mubama who cleverly guided the ball into the net just five minutes later.

Postecoglou made sweeping changes to the Spurs lineup in the second half. Amidst Bayern Munich's keen interest, Harry Kane, who was leading the team, was substituted at halftime, alongside new additions Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon. The alterations sparked discussion on Twitter.

In the 69th minute, Giovani Lo Celso struck a powerful, close-range volley past Lukasz Fabianski, enabling Spurs to find the net at last.

Just three minutes afterwards, Destiny Udogie headed Ivan Perisic's corner into the goal, thus scoring his first goal for Spurs and equalizing the match.

But substitute Scamacca nicked the win for the Irons with a cool one-on-one finish to ensure David Moyes' side remain 100 per cent in pre-season after a third straight win.
