The challenge for the players in Call of Duty's DMZ mode, known as the Researcher's Dilemma mission, is to traverse Vondel in order to procure valuable research documents. Their objective is to surreptitiously substitute these documents with a fabricated version. Firstly, players must gain entry into the Veterinary Office at the Vondel Zoo and locate the researcher's notes. Only then can they proceed to carry out the mission's act of sabotage, thereby successfully fulfilling the objectives of this mission associated with the Black Mous faction.
Researchers Dilemma Objectives
In the Researcher's Dilemma mission, players are tasked with three main objectives to be completed in a single mission, spanning from the zoo in Vondel to the castle in the Northwest corner. The first task requires the players to locate the research notes within the veterinary office of the zoo.
Place the researcher's notes on the second floor of the church near the castle within the designated area.
Transfer the counterfeit notes from the church and relocate them to the veterinary's office within the assigned area.
Access the Animal Care Room
Before engaging in this mission, players will need to procure the appropriate unlock key. To gain access to the Animal Care Room, where the Vondel Gas Research Notes are stored, players must possess either a key to the Veterinarian Office or a Skeleton Key. In the event that players do not have a key readily available, they have the opportunity to discover one by obtaining a supply drop within the zoo. Alternatively, players may need to undertake various deployments, fulfilling objectives and contracts, until a key is found. To be prepared for the possibility of the Animal Care Room building being a stronghold, players should equip a stronghold keycard when preparing their loadout, as there is a high likelihood of encountering such a scenario.
Once players have acquired the Veterinary Office or Skeleton key, they should proceed to the Vondel Zoo. The veterinary office can be found on the first floor of the building in the far Southwest corner of the Zoo. Unlock the Animal Care Room using one of the appropriate keys and carefully inspect the counters on the left side. Here, next to some blue-lidded test tubes, players will discover the Vondel Gas Research Notes.
Finding the False Notes

With the research notes acquired, head to the castle in the top left corner of the map. Players will want to look for a church located just south of the castle complex.
Enter the premises by utilizing the boxes to maneuver through the shattered window. Proceed to locate the staircase leading to the second floor, which is compact and consists of a lone chamber. Positioned in the far corner, diagonally opposite to the stairway leading to the lower level, players will come across the Fraudulent Research Notes.
To complete the mission, place the Vondel Gas Research Notes on the second floor by interacting with any available spot on the ground. Then, collect the False Research Notes and get ready for the return trip to the Vondel Zoo. Finally, deliver the false notes to the veterinary office at the exact location where you initially obtained the research notes. Once the false notes are handed over, the mission will be successfully finished.
