Video footage from Thursday morning shows a large crowd of people gathered around the port, with some individuals seen breaking into a warehouse. The situation at the port remains chaotic, according to reports.
The Caribbean Port Services (CPS) terminal, a privately-owned facility, plays a crucial role in Haiti's food import distribution network.
According to CPS's LinkedIn page, the company is a combination of various shipping agents and terminal operators that have been operating at the International Port of Port-au-Prince since 1978.
Caribbean Port Services did not provide any comments in response to CNN's inquiries.
Meanwhile, the state of emergency in Haiti has been extended to April 3, according to a decree from the Haitian government on Thursday.
A curfew has been extended to March 10.
