If you disliked the character of the High Evolutionary in GOTG Vol 3, just wait until you encounter Dr. Volumnia Gaul in Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Songbird and Snakes. Portrayed by Viola Davis, Dr. Gaul serves as the head game maker and serves as one of the story's antagonists. From the earlier released visuals and teasers, Dr. Gaul exudes an intimidating aura that you wouldn't dare to challenge. However, to further illustrate her madness, Bloody Disgusting has revealed new images from the film that will undoubtedly make your heart skip a beat.
One of the images displays Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow, exploring the different creatures preserved in jars within Dr. Gaul's laboratory. Other images showcase various dissected animals on a table, including a raccoon, while certain animals are stored as trophies in jars. Altogether, these visuals present a gruesome depiction of the game maker, and it's safe to say that fans will not hold Dr. Gaul in high regard.

Viola Davis’ Dr. Gaul Is a Menacing Villain
takes place six decades prior to the events depicted in the original film, introducing a fresh ensemble cast and new characters within a familiar backdrop. Director Francis Lawrence, known for his work on the previous movie, returns to direct the prequel, which is based on a screenplay written by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt. Regarding Davis' character, the director has previously mentioned that Dr. Gaul draws inspiration from Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Lawrence further revealed that although Dr. Gaul may initially appear to be the antagonist, she genuinely believes in her actions and considers them morally justified.
Based on Lawrence's comments, it appears that Davis' Gaul will be portrayed as a complex villain. However, we will only discover her true intentions when the film is released. In addition to Davis and Blyth, the movie features a talented ensemble cast including Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow, Josh Andrés Rivera as Sejanus Plinth, Jason Schwartzman as Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman, Fionnula Flanagan as Grandma'am – Coriolanus and Tigris' strict grandmother, Burn Gorman as Commander Hoff, and Ashley Liao as Clemensia Dovecote, among others.

I am a hard fan of The Hunger Games series, and I am very excited to see this prequel. I think it will be interesting to see how the story of Coriolanus Snow unfolds, and I am particularly interested in seeing how he becomes the tyrannical President of Panem. I am also excited to see the new characters in this film, such as Lucy Gray Baird and Dr. Volumnia Gaul. I think this film has the potential to be a great addition to the Hunger Games series, and I am looking forward to seeing it when it is released in November.
