Vampire Diaries Duo Set to Collaborate on Exciting Prime Video Project

Exciting news as the creators and stars of Vampire Diaries join forces for a new Prime Video adaptation. Get ready for an intriguing premise that will captivate audiences.

Julie Plec, co-developer of Vampire Diaries, and actress Candice King are teaming up for a new Prime Video series titled We Were Liars. King, known for her role in The Vampire Diaries which aired from 2009 to 2017, will be reuniting with Plec for this project.

According to Deadline, Plec and King are collaborating once again for the development of We Were Liars, a Prime Video series. The show will also feature actors Mamie Gummer from True Detective season 3 and Caitlin FitzGerald from Succession. We Were Liars is based on the YA novel by E. Lockhart with the same title.

We Were Liars, like the book, delves into the lives of the Sinclair family, who reside on a luxurious private island near Massachusetts. The story unfolds into a captivating tale that combines elements of a heartbreaking love story and a gripping amnesia mystery. In the upcoming adaptation, Gummer, FitzGerald, and King will portray the three Sinclair sisters.

Gummer is set to portray Carrie Sinclair, while FitzGerald will play Penny Sinclair and King will take on the role of Bess Sinclair. Each sister has their own unique characteristics, with Carrie being the eldest and Bess being the youngest. Penny, for example, embodies the stereotype of a wealthy suburban woman, as she enjoys snacking on six unsalted almonds. On the other hand, Bess is a mother of three whose husband is considered by the Sinclair patriarch as capable of continuing the family legacy.

We Were Liars, a new series, is not only directed by Plec but also by Carina Adly MacKenzie. The show is being produced by Universal Television and Amazon MGM studios. MacKenzie and Plec are both writers and executive producers of the series. Lockhart, the original author of We Were Liars, is also on board as an executive producer, which bodes well for the adaptation's faithfulness. Although there is no release date yet, the initial news about the show sets up an intriguing premise.
