Valeo UK Appoints Former Müller Marketing Executive as First CMO

Michael Inpong, previously with Müller, takes on the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Valeo UK, the company behind popular confectionary brands like Fox’s and Refreshers, in a newly established position.

Valeo Foods UK, known for popular brands like Kettle Chips, Rowse honey, and Fox’s glacier sweets, has chosen Michael Inpong, former CMO of Müller UK and Ireland, as its new chief marketer.

Inpong is the first chief marketing officer at the business, which is part of a worldwide group created by acquisitions over the last 13 years. The business also owns snack and confectionery brands including Wham, Refreshers, Fruit Salad, and Poppets.

At a global level, revenues at Valeo Foods have increased five-fold to approximately €1.2bn (£1.03bn) since it was formed in 2010. In the UK, Valeo’s sales are approximately €588m (£511m). The creation of the CMO role comes as the company creates a single leadership team across all aspects of the business. Valeo is private-equity backed, owned by Bain Capital.

Inpong previously worked as the managing director at Sport&Brands, a brand strategy consultancy that he founded. He has a wealth of experience in FMCG marketing, with stints at Müller, Nestlé, P&G, and L'Oréal.

During his time at Müller, Inpong was a board member for almost ten years. As the global CMO, he is credited with revitalizing Müller's brand portfolio in the UK. His innovative strategies helped the company surpass rival Danone and claim the top spot in the yogurt and chilled desserts category in 2013.

At Nestlé, he served on the board and worked as the marketing director for nearly five years. Prior to that, he began his marketing career at P&G and later at L’Oréal.

Inpong is a member of both the Marketing Academy and Marketing Society. Additionally, he is a trustee for Take Her Lead, a charity dedicated to empowering women and girls in the sport of cricket.
