US Navy Destroys Attack Drones in the Red Sea

A US warship successfully intercepts and destroys one-way attack drones launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, as reported by the United States Central Command

The United States Central Command reported that a US warship, the USS Thomas Hudner, successfully intercepted and destroyed several one-way attack drones launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen while patrolling the Red Sea on Thursday morning. No injuries or damage to the ship were reported.

Tensions in the Red Sea region have escalated since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels asserting that they have launched ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel.

On Sunday, the Houthis seized control of the Galaxy Leader cargo ship in the Red Sea, which had approximately 25 crew members on board.

The United States demands "the immediate release" of the cargo ship and crew seized by the Houthis in the Red Sea, State Department spokesperson Matt Miller said Monday.
