Rudi Gutierrez has not only appeared on The Voice but also on The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, another reality TV show. This spinoff of the Bachelor Nation franchise premiered on ABC during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. The show featured a group of single musicians who aimed to find love and secure a record deal. At the age of 28, Rudi was among the contestants on the show and had a romantic interest in fellow contestant Matt Ranaudo.

Despite being interested in Matt, who is now 35 years old, Rudi was cautious about letting their connection fizzle out too quickly. This was evident when she purposefully avoided kissing him while they were in the hot tub during the premiere in April 2020. Misinterpreting this near-kiss incident as a sign of Rudi's waning interest, Matt then asked Mel Taevin for a one-on-one date. However, after realizing that he lacked chemistry with Mel, he became determined to mend things with Rudi and regain her favor. Reflecting on the situation, Matt confessed to Rudi that there are times when he unintentionally says things without fully understanding the impact it may have.

Rudi confronted him for embarrassing her, but she ultimately chose to give her rose to Ryan Neal. In turn, Cheyenne Arnell decided to save Matt during the rose ceremony.

As time passed, Matt had the opportunity to make amends with Rudi, and they harmonized wonderfully during the challenge performances. Despite the obstacles, the duo persevered and made it to the finale week, where they headed to Las Vegas for the exhilarating live gigs.

Rudi was upset with Matt for his inability to express his emotions effectively. This was prior to Matt confessing his hesitance to fall in love due to the emotional barriers he had developed from previous relationships. When Rudi admitted her feelings for him, Matt responded by thanking her for being honest.

Despite a challenging final week, Rudi and Matt delivered a powerful rendition of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s "Shallow," which received praise from the judges. This performance strengthened Matt's determination to pursue a lifelong musical partnership with Rudi.

Rudi and Matt continued their on-and-off relationship after their journey on The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, although they ultimately lost to Bri Stauss and Chris Watson who ended their relationship in January 2021 after releasing a joint LP.

During a May 2020 interview on the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, Rudi described Matt's struggle to navigate his emotions throughout the entire experience. She expressed that after delivering a remarkable performance in front of the judges, it was natural to feel an overwhelming sense of happiness. Rudi emphasized that she was consistently there to support him during those moments.

Additionally, Rudi revealed that she and Matt share a close bond. She acknowledged that Matt is currently in a state of confusion, and she respects his journey to find clarity. Rudi honestly admitted that her feelings for him cannot simply be turned off, indicating that she still cares for him. As for their future, she expressed a willingness to wait and see what unfolds.

In 2021, Rudi made the accusation that Matt had been dishonest with her and had been secretly involved with another woman during their relationship.

In response to Rudi's claim, Matt addressed the situation in an Instagram Story statement, stating, "I haven't spoken up until now because there are many aspects to this situation that I have not wanted to publicly discuss. I want to clarify that I have not been hiding anything, but rather dealing with various personal issues within my family and personal life. The truth is, I should have been more transparent about the complexities of our on and off relationship. I was attempting to please everyone, but I now realize that I should have been more forthcoming. It's important to note that we were not actually together during that time."

Matt stated that he has been making music since childhood and he is committed to continue pursuing his passion. He apologizes sincerely if anyone feels let down, as it was never his intention.

Rudi, on the other hand, has made personal and professional changes by joining season 24 of The Voice. Her powerful rendition of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" impressed all four judges - John Legend, Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani, and Reba McEntire - who turned their chairs around. In the end, Rudi chose Gwen as her coach for the next stage of the competition.
