The Party of Five cast has remained a close-knit family, supporting each other throughout the years since their time on the beloved drama series. Airing from 1994 to 2000, the show portrayed the lives of Charlie (Matthew Fox), Bailey (Scott Wolf), Julia (Neve Campbell), Claudia (Lacey Chabert), and Owen Salinger (Jacob Smith) as they navigated the challenges of life after their parents' tragic death in a car accident. While the show had its heartwarming family moments, it also tackled difficult subjects like alcoholism, cancer, and domestic violence.
The series featured Jennifer Love Hewitt, Scott Grimes, Michael A. Goorjian, Paula Devicq, Jeremy London, Tom Mason, and Jennifer Aspen. Party of Five received numerous accolades during its six-season run, including winning the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series in 1996 and receiving a nomination the following year. In a February 2015 interview with HuffPost Live, Wolf stated that the show had a significant impact on its viewers. He added that he and the rest of the cast and crew were proud of the show and wanted it to resonate with as many people as possible.
The Everwood alum mentioned that he and the cast still maintain communication. "Neve and I see each other more frequently than the others," Wolf added. "I occasionally stay in touch with Matthew and Lacey—I can't believe how young she was when we began the show. She was around 11 years old, and I feel like she's my sister. We were like a second family to one another."
He and Campbell had a reunion on screen as guests on a June 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where they discussed the possibility of reviving the series.
The actress from Scream expressed that it would be nonsensical if we still haven't moved on from our parents' death after 20 years. It indicates a serious issue.
In contrast, Party of Five received a reboot in 2020 on Freeform, led by the original show creators Christopher Keyser and Amy Lippman. The new version featured Brandon Larracuente, Niko Guardado, Emily Tosta, and Elle Paris Legaspi, and introduced a unique twist by centering on a group of siblings whose parents were sent back to Mexico. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after its initial season.
Lippman expressed in a December 2019 interview with the New York Post that their interest in reviving the series was not driven by the trend of repurposing successful shows. Instead, they identified an opportunity in the current cultural climate. The story they had previously told 25 years ago had become a reality and was happening daily across the country. This realization became a compelling reason for a reboot, as it seemed like a more urgent and relevant story to be told.
In June 2023, Chabert and Wolf made an announcement that they would be reuniting once again to portray siblings in a Hallmark Christmas movie.

The actress from Scream, Campbell, expressed her belief that it would not be logical or meaningful to bring back the show. She stated, "If we are still grieving the loss of our parents after 20 years, then we have a significant issue."
The Party of Five reboot premiered on Freeform in 2020, created by Christopher Keyser and Amy Lippman, the original show's creators. Starring Brandon Larracuente, Niko Guardado, Emily Tosta, and Elle Paris Legaspi, this new version took a unique approach by focusing on a group of siblings whose parents were deported to Mexico. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after its first season. In a December 2019 interview with the New York Post, Lippman shared that their decision to revive the show was not driven by the trend of repurposing successful series. Instead, they recognized the relevance of the story in today's world, as similar situations were happening across the country on a daily basis. This made it a more urgent and compelling story to retell.
Chabert and Wolf announced their reunion in June 2023, as they prepare to portray siblings once more in an upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie.
Describing the delightful news, Chabert expressed his excitement, reminiscing about their wonderful time working together on Party of Five.
