Join Indiana Jones on his final adventure, accompanied by a new cast of characters, including Agent Mason played by Shaunette Renée Wilson.

Wilson, 33, revealed that she was a fan of Harrison Ford's iconic character long before landing her role in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, set to hit theaters on Friday, June 30. Reflecting on her first introduction to the series, she shared, "As a child, I watched the Indiana Jones films with my dad and brother. Coming from an immigrant family, it was a great way to experience American cinema and culture. What stood out to me was the imperfect and relatable nature of the anti-hero, who faced challenges and endured injuries. It was truly unique and captivating."

In 1969, during the moon landing, Indiana Jones, now a college professor in New York City, finds himself living a solitary life as he approaches retirement. His goddaughter, Helena Shaw, approaches him with inquiries about the fabled Archimedes Dial, a device capable of locating temporal rifts. It becomes apparent that Helena is not an innocent child, but a clever and deceitful individual who is not the only one determined to acquire the dial.

Simultaneously, Mason, a government agent, collaborates with Dr. Schmidt, also known as Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi scientist who is also set on obtaining the dial. "She's working with Dr. Schmidt, who played a role in the American moon landing," Wilson explained. "In return, we are assisting him in acquiring the dial. We are unaware of its true power or the reasons behind his desire, but we will put forth our best efforts to obtain it for him... and things quickly spiral out of control from there."

Mason unknowingly discovers Dr. Schmidt's allegiance to the Nazis, leading to unforeseen consequences.

Behind the scenes, Wilson had an incredible experience working on the movie, forming a meaningful friendship with Waller-Bridge. Wilson expressed her gratitude for Waller-Bridge's mentorship and described the experience as truly special. She believes that the movie wouldn't have been as amazing without Waller-Bridge's involvement.

We: Can you tell me a little bit about your character and how she crosses paths with Indiana Jones?

Shaunette Renée Wilson portrays Agent Mason in the upcoming film. Her character represents the U.S. government, although it's a bit unclear whether she is associated with the CIA or FBI. Agent Mason collaborates with Dr. Schmidt, a prominent scientist involved in the American lunar program. As part of a mutual agreement, he has requested a mysterious dial, the true extent of its power unknown. Nevertheless, we are determined to acquire it for him. Unfortunately, our pursuit of the dial leads us to Ms. Shaw, who unwittingly leads us to Indiana Jones. This is where I, as Agent Mason, come face to face with him, but he is known as Dr. Jones in his role as a professor at Hunter College. From that point onward, the situation quickly spirals out of control.

Wilson: Absolutely. We had a blast on set.

Wilson: Yeah, she definitely provided me with some standout advice during our time together.

Wilson: Yeah. Despite being incredibly busy, she took the time to read a pilot that I had written. [Waller-Bridge] provided insightful feedback, delving into the essence of the piece and its characters. She not only praised my work, but also shared a glimpse into her own creative process. She encouraged me to write about my fears and draw from personal experiences. According to her, true craftsmanship lies in transforming something intimate into fiction that resonates universally. Maintaining a balance between daily life and injecting humor, while also conveying sincerity and deep emotions, is crucial. I must admit, I am truly fangirling in many ways, but she truly is a sincerely genuine person.

Us: What was your favorite memory from filming this movie?

Content must be rewritten

Wilson: Glasgow was an incredible experience for me. We transformed long city blocks to recreate 1969 New York, which was especially exciting for me since I'm originally from New York. It was like stepping back in time and seeing familiar aspects of present-day New York. The energy of the crowd and the people was amazing, especially during a massive parade and action sequence. This was my first day on set, and it felt truly magical to realize that I was a part of this story. Within the plot, I've reached a point where things are truly coming alive. It's a beautiful introduction to the era that we transition to in the film.

Us: How was your experience working with Harrison Ford?

Wilson: When I first heard him use this phrase, I was completely amazed. He exclaimed, "Let's shoot this piece of s--t!" with such enthusiasm, signaling to the actors that they were ready. It was truly remarkable. He truly loves what we do and is an actor at heart. Despite his immense career and experience, he remains down-to-earth and engaged with me energetically, whether the camera was on him or not. Additionally, he has a fantastic sense of humor. His playful inner child is always present. He has a deadpan dry humor that is truly delightful, and I believe this is one of the reasons for his lasting success.

Us: What feelings do you hope fans will have after watching this movie?

Wilson's goal is to evoke inspiration and provide closure for both the franchise and the character. He wants the audience to be able to bid farewell to the character while feeling acceptance and peace. However, he also wants them to be excited about the prospect of new adventures and discoveries. While this signifies the end of this specific franchise, there are still endless possibilities for exploration.
