Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games have announced an upcoming collection of classic Star Wars games for the Switch, with two of the titles being available as digital downloads. While this news may excite fans of the franchise who enjoy physical media, there is a slight drawback that may disappoint some.
Despite the growing popularity of digital games and media, there are still many individuals who prefer the experience of owning a physical disk or cartridge. These players see purchasing a physical video game as a genuine sense of ownership, as they can proudly display the game's box in their homes and free up storage space on their consoles. Although there are many Star Wars games deserving of a remaster, a significant number of fans prefer to have the original versions in physical form for a nostalgic touch.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a 20-year-old game, is still hailed by many fans as the ultimate Star Wars gaming experience. This classic RPG takes players back thousands of years before the original trilogy, offering a deep and intricate storyline, turn-based combat, and a moral system that allows players to choose between the light and dark sides of the Force. In its sequel, Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, players must form a team of companions to unravel the mysteries surrounding The Exile. Although the sequel improved upon some gameplay mechanics, it doesn't hold the same level of adoration as the original game.
Adding to this collection is the beloved Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed. In this action-adventure story, players assume the role of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. Another popular inclusion is Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, which features a single-player campaign where players interact with iconic characters from the Star Wars universe as Kyle Katarn, a former Jedi Knight turned mercenary. Lastly, there's Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer, a timeless game based on the prequel trilogy, allowing players to pilot various pod racers from the franchise.
