20 Angel Of Vengeance
Andrea Rojas, known as the Angel of Vengeance, patrolled the streets of Metropolis as a vigilante. Like many early superheroes, her costume consisted mainly of leather. She wore a lengthy, black trench coat layered over a red sweater. In addition, Rojas sported high-laced boots with side spikes and black gloves. The most striking feature of her attire was a black mask that concealed the upper half of her face. Clark managed to defeat her in one of his superhero battles in Smallville.
19 Stiletto
Stiletto was the temporary alter ego of Lois Lane, played by Erica Durance. After rescuing Chloe Sullivan from an assault, Lois pretends to be a hero so she can write about Stiletto for the Daily Planet. The Stiletto costume consists entirely of black leather, including pants, a top, gloves, and a cape. True to her name, Lois' vigilante attire is incomplete without her stilettos. To conceal her identity, she wears a black domino mask as part of her superhero ensemble.
18 Supergirl
Laura Vandervoort's Supergirl sported a minimalist superhero attire, devoid of an excessively leathery appearance - a definite advantage. In Smallville, Kara Kent opted for everyday clothing with a color scheme reminiscent of Supergirl's iconic comic book outfit and other adaptations, such as Melissa Benoist's portrayal in the Arrowverse. Vandervoort's Supergirl donned a long-sleeved blue shirt paired with a vibrant red skirt and matching boots. Additionally, the character accessorized with a bracelet displaying the House of El emblem.
17 Cyborg
Smallville's portrayal of Cyborg fell short of expectations. While the hero's suit surpasses other low-effort suits to some extent, it lacks the cybernetic enhancements typically associated with Cyborg, most likely due to budget constraints. Instead, his outfit consists of a silver vest layered over a gray shirt, reminiscent of the character's iconic appearance in the comics.
16 Aquaman
Like Cyborg, Smallville's Aquaman, portrayed by Titans' Hawk actor Alan Ritchson, sported a minimalistic superhero suit that captured Aquaman's iconic colors. The suit featured an orange and green wetsuit complete with a hood. Additionally, Arthur Curry carried a knife holstered near his left foot. In the show, Smallville's Aquaman also showcased a stealth variant of the suit, primarily in black with subtle orange accents.
15 Warrior Angel
Alec Abrams, also known as Warrior Angel, stood out among the superheroes who graced Smallville because he was not derived from the pages of a comic book. Despite this distinction, Warrior Angel shared several similarities with Shazam, as both Alec and Billy Batson were ordinary children bestowed with supernatural abilities, transforming them into formidable adult crime-fighters. Sporting a silver superhero ensemble adorned with a captivating red cape, the standout feature of Warrior Angel's costume was the prominent "W" insignia, accentuated with angel wings, proudly displayed at its core.
14 Martian Manhunter
To pay homage to Martian Manhunter's iconic comic book costume, Smallville ingeniously incorporated everyday attire. The series showcased Phil Morris' portrayal of Martian Manhunter in a sleek purple jacket layered over a green shirt. Additionally, the Smallville team cleverly utilized a red double gun holster that was strategically placed in the opposite direction, creating an "X" emblem on his chest reminiscent of Martian Manhunter's revered comics attire.
13 Black Canary
12 Impulse
The version of Black Canary in Smallville sported a superhero outfit that bore a striking resemblance to the final costume worn by Katie Cassidy's Black Siren in Arrow. Dinah Lance followed Smallville's leather trend by donning gloves and a black jacket. Black Canary sported a pair of black fishnets, and the most notable aspect of her suit was the lack of a mask, with Dinah using face paint to emulate a domino mask. Her boots were equipped with attachments for storing throwing weapons.
In Smallville, Bart Allen portrayed The Flash, taking on the moniker of Impulse, just like his comic book counterpart. Impulse sported a hooded vest in varying shades of red, adorned with lightning symbols in a vibrant yellow hue on each side. Red running shoes and a darker red shirt complemented his hoodie. Initially, he donned sunglasses with frames in red, but inexplicably discarded them later on.
11 Blue Beetle
Smallville's portrayal of Blue Beetle paled in comparison to Xolo Maridueña's rendition of the character in the standalone film, a character that has also been confirmed as part of James Gunn's new DC Universe. Nonetheless, in a series where majority of the heroes donned leather or simplistic outfits, Smallville's ambitious endeavor to bring Jaime Reyes' Blue Beetle armor to life is praiseworthy. Although the live-action portrayal of the Blue Beetle armor closely resembled its comic book counterpart, it suffered from a bulky appearance and a handmade quality.
10 Booster Gold
Booster Gold, from DC Comics, is set to star in his own series on Max for the new DC Universe. However, prior to this, the character made his debut in live-action on Smallville. The costume for Booster Gold in Smallville was a faithful adaptation of the hero's suit from the comics. The show retained the hero's iconic blue and gold design, while cleverly incorporating advertisements onto the suit. In the series, Booster sold the advertising space to generate income, a tactic that his comic book counterpart would surely endorse. Instead of the traditional golden visors, Smallville's version of Booster Gold sported stylish yellow glasses.
9 Stargirl
Before Brec Bassinger's Courtney Whitmore was brought to life in the Stargirl series, Smallville introduced the character as a member of the Justice Society of America in live-action. In Smallville, Stargirl's appearance closely resembled her comic book counterpart, sporting a full blue superhero suit complete with shorts, stars on her chest and sleeves, and red gloves and belt. However, the only issue with Stargirl's outfit in Smallville was her mask, which appeared overly bulky and did not quite capture the essence of the hero.
8 Doctor Fate
Due to budget constraints, Smallville made the best effort in recreating Doctor Fate's costume, which, although resembling a comic book adaptation, fell short of the outstanding quality seen in Pierce Brosnan's portrayal in Black Adam. The Smallville version of Doctor Fate donned the classic blue and gold suit that one would anticipate, complete with a front-facing amulet fastened to a regal golden cape. Notably, Doctor Fate's distinctive mystical helmet was also faithfully represented.
7 Hawkman
6 Zatanna
Despite Black Adam's more elaborate portrayal of Hawkman, Smallville's Carter Hall still managed to impress with his well-crafted costume. The hero flaunted his iconic wings and wielded a fierce mace, while the hawk-like mask added an air of danger to his character. The combination of gold and brown in his body armor was a successful choice, allowing his red emblem to gleam prominently.
The portrayal of Zatanna by Serinda Swan successfully captured the essence of the character's comic book persona. It was relatively straightforward to bring Zatanna's costume to life on the screen, considering her magician-inspired attire. In Smallville, Zatanna sported the customary top hat, complemented by a black jacket and a stylish white shirt. Additionally, she rocked black fishnets and elegant high-heeled boots to complete her mesmerizing look.
5 Superboy
4 Clark Kent As The Blur
Much like Zatanna, Superboy's costume from the comics can be easily adapted for live-action. Lucas Grabeel, known for his role in High School Musical, portrayed Smallville's Conner Kent with remarkable accuracy. In the series, Superboy sports his iconic black shirt embellished with the renowned red House of El crest. Teamed with blue jeans, this portrayal perfectly mirrors the character's appearance in the original comics.
Before transforming into Superman, Clark Kent, portrayed by Welling, adopted the aliases of the Red-Blue Blur and subsequently the Blur. Even though Clark initially rescued people while dressed in ordinary attire, he eventually refined his appearance. The addition of a red jacket featuring the emblem of the House of El bestowed a heroic aura upon the character, while the blue shirt beneath subtly alluded to the color scheme of the Superman suit.
3 Clark's Black The Blur Suit
2 Superman
Smallville's adaptation of Superman's black suit was the ultimate attire Clark wore prior to revealing his official Superman costume. In his identity as the Blur, Clark sported a sleek all-black ensemble featuring a trench coat, pants, and a t-shirt. The finishing touch was a white House of El crest adorning his shirt. This exceptional suit significantly elevated the hero's stature.
Clark Kent finally transformed into Superman after a decade of waiting in Smallville's ten seasons. While the iconic Superman suit had made a few appearances before the series finale, Clark only officially donned it in the last episode. Distinctive from other suits, the Superman costume closely resembled Brandon Routh's Superman suit from the 2006 film Superman Returns, with the sole distinction being the House of El crest on the cape. However, it does not claim the top spot on the list because Welling never fully wore the suit in Smallville; instead, it was entirely created through CGI for the series' final episode.
1 Green Arrow
Justin Hartley's introduction as Green Arrow revolutionized the Smallville landscape, as his character became the trailblazer for superhero attire. Sporting a sleek green and black leather costume adorned with a hood, Green Arrow also flaunted technologically advanced glasses to enhance his crime-fighting prowess. Notably, the suit boasted two variations: a sleeveless main version and a sleeved rendition. Despite Smallville primarily revolving around Superman, Green Arrow's iconic ensemble graced the screen for a significant duration, cementing Oliver Queen as the sole character embodying the epitome of a superhero throughout the series. Consequently, Smallville unequivocally bestowed upon Green Arrow's suit the distinction of being its ultimate masterpiece.
