In Destiny 2, the true endgame for veteran players lies in looking cool. Customizing Guardians is a major aspect of the game, offering numerous options like different ships, armor shaders, and loading animations. However, one specific cosmetic feature, Mementos, requires a bit more effort and knowledge from players in order to showcase their unique weapon appearance and customization.

Aside from the traditional shaders that can be bought from the Eververse Store or obtained through alternate methods, each Memento grants a distinct shader, weapon title, and tracker associated with its source. Mementos can exclusively be used on specially crafted weapons, which must achieve specific level milestones before certain Memento functionalities become accessible.

How to Get Mementos

In Destiny 2, players can currently acquire three Mementos: the Gambit Memento, Nightfall Memento, and Trials Memento. Each Memento has its own set of steps for obtaining it, but it's important to note that players can only possess one of each type at a time.

The Gambit Memento is a reward that can be obtained randomly after completing a game of Gambit.

The Nightfall Memento is a guaranteed reward for completing a Grandmaster Nightfall strike, with drops limited to one per week. Similarly, the Trials Memento is obtained by successfully going flawless during Trials of Osiris and always drops from the chest at the Lighthouse. Like the Nightfall Memento, it is also limited to one drop per week.

Upon acquiring the desired Memento, players should make their way to The Enclave located in Savathûn's Throne World (specifically on Mars). Once there, Guardians can interact with the Relic to either modify an existing weapon or create a new one as required. Within the crafting menu, the Memento slot is positioned between the perks and the "Finalize Shape" option. The only requirement for this process is consuming the selected Memento.

Upon completion, players will observe the addition of an optional tracker on the weapon, reflecting the activity associated with the Memento. By leveling the crafted weapon to 20, Guardians will unlock a title for the weapon, which will be automatically equipped. Furthermore, reaching level 30 enables players to equip a unique shader on the weapon.
