Unveiling the Ultimate HomePod Upgrade: YouTube Music Integration for Unmatched Audio Experience!

Enhance your listening experience with YouTube Music on Apple HomePod Simply command Siri to play your favorite tunes and enjoy a seamless integration between the two powerful platforms

The Apple HomePod now supports YouTube Music, expanding its limited range of music services. With the latest YouTube Music update on iOS, users can control playback on their HomePod using Siri voice commands, eliminating the need for AirPlay. However, to utilize this feature, a YouTube Premium or Music Premium subscription is required, similar to Google Assistant speakers. To set up the integration, simply install the app update, access Settings in the YouTube Music app, navigate to "Connected Apps," and select "Connect with HomePod." Once connected, commands like "Hey Siri, play YouTube Music" will function seamlessly.

To save yourself from having to say "... on YouTube Music" every time you want to stream music, you can conveniently set YouTube Music as your default music provider on HomePod. All you need to do is open the Home app on your iOS device, navigate to Settings, tap on your username, select "Default Service," and then choose YouTube Music.

Interestingly, the announcement about native YouTube Music support on HomePod was made by YouTube Music product head Brandon Bilinski on a Reddit thread. This announcement received praise from YouTube Music users, although there have been a few users experiencing difficulties in streaming their playlists.

Not many music services are compatible with HomePod by default. The select few are Deezer, Tidal, Pandora, iHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio, and YouTube Music. However, some popular services like Spotify require AirPlay streaming to work on HomePod. Fortunately, Spotify users can now use Siri voice commands with AirPlay streams after the iOS 17 update.

This update is a part of the extensive expansion of YouTube Music service. Additionally, the new Fitbit Charge 6 also provides native support for YouTube Music, and Garmin smartwatches will introduce YouTube Music in the coming months. Furthermore, YouTube Music added podcast functionality earlier this year.

Streaming YouTube Music on the HomePod necessitates a YouTube Premium or Music Premium subscription. If you lack either subscription, you can solely stream YouTube Music to the HomePod using AirPlay. It is recommended to subscribe to YouTube Premium, as it only costs a slight increase from the basic Music subscription and provides an ad-free YouTube experience.
