Highlights
The Hogwarts Legacy sequel should bring back certain mentor characters to flesh out their stories and give them the attention they deserve.
Professor Hecat, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, holds the potential for an intriguing background and could offer invaluable wisdom and combat skills in the sequel.
Professor Weasley, a potent and trustworthy ally of the protagonist, has the opportunity to play a significant part in events such as the House Cup and bring her expertise as a former Curse-Breaker for the Ministry of Magic.
Given the massive success of Hogwarts Legacy, it's inevitable that a sequel will be in the works. If the next installment follows the story of the original, there are specific characters who should definitely return.
Hogwarts Legacy features a vast array of characters, including numerous Hogwarts students that players can interact with, as well as distinctive professors with their own quirks, specialties, and hinted backstories. However, it can be argued that the game missed some chances to fully develop these mentors. The sequel has the opportunity to rectify this by bringing back some of these characters and giving them the attention they truly deserve.
Professor Hecat Needs to be Fleshed Out in the Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
Hogwarts Legacy possesses an extensive collection of spells, with a notable emphasis on combat spells acquired through instruction from Professor Hecat. Unlike her unfortunate predecessors who succumbed to Voldemort's curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts position, Professor Hecat stands as one of the rare proficient, effective, and morally upright teachers within the franchise.
However, her capabilities extend beyond mere competence in her role. With confidence, authority, and a wealth of experience, Professor Hecat commands the classroom, hinting at a fascinating history as a daring wizard. This potential backstory could be further explored in the game's sequel. Moreover, despite the game's emphasis on countering the Dark Arts, it does not imply that the stakes of the narrative will be any less intense in the sequel. The player may find themselves relying on Professor Hecat's guidance and combat expertise more essential than ever before.
Professor Weasley Could Play a Major Role in the Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
Matilda Weasley, a close ally to the protagonist in Hogwarts Legacy, naturally returns in the game's sequel. Besides her significant ties to the Harry Potter books and films, Weasley is a powerful and dependable friend who supports the player throughout their journey at Hogwarts. She handles Headmaster Black and turns a blind eye to the player's questionable actions.
As a friend to the player character, Weasley's involvement could extend beyond assisting with the House Cup in Hogwarts Legacy's sequel. Her previous role as a Curse-Breaker for the Ministry of Magic adds a connection that could contribute to a more high-stakes storyline. With her intelligence and astuteness, Weasley has the potential to become a central character in the upcoming game.
Professor Onai Could Expand the Hogwarts Legacy World
Content must be written in English:
Professor Onai, the Divination Professor, is a character with great potential. Although players didn't have much interaction with her in Hogwarts Legacy, as they focused more on her daughter Natsai, she holds immense power as a Seer and Animagus. If she were to play a role in the sequel, she could greatly assist players with her unique abilities. Moreover, by exploring characters like Onai, Hogwarts Legacy has the opportunity to exceed its source material. As a transplant from Uagadou, Professor Onai represents the African wizarding world, which has been largely overlooked in the franchise. In the next game, she could bring attention to this untapped and substantial community of magical individuals.
The excitement surrounding Hogwarts Legacy has yet to settle, making it difficult to predict what lies ahead in a potential sequel. However, the vibrant and diverse cast of professors in Hogwarts Legacy was undoubtedly one of the game's highlights. Therefore, it is hoped that Avalanche will incorporate at least some of these beloved characters in the sequel, wherever their journey may take them.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version will release on November 14.
