Nevertheless, this crossover serves as an introduction to the realm of Diablo. The Lilith and Inarius skins, though exclusively available through a bundle priced at $39.99, pay homage to Diablo 4 and suitably complement the Overwatch 2 heroes who sport them.

Blizzard is bringing together two of its biggest franchises this Halloween season, as Overwatch 2 welcomes a selection of Diablo 4 themed skins for its heroes during the Rise of Darkness season. Not only will players be able to enjoy these Diablo 4-inspired cosmetics, but Overwatch 2 Season 7 also introduces a new game mode for its Halloween Terror event, called Trials of Sanctuary. This exciting mode allows players to engage in battles against the demons from Diablo 4's Burning Hells. However, some Overwatch 2 players may be unfamiliar with the characters featured in these event skins, as this could be their first introduction to the world of Diablo.

Each of these skins pays homage to a different character from the Diablo series, transforming Overwatch 2 heroes into residents of the High Heavens and Burning Hells. While some character choices may be more recognizable than others, they are generally well-suited for the associated Overwatch 2 hero. There has been some criticism from Overwatch 2 players regarding certain skins being exclusive to a $39.99 bundle, but overall, the inclusion of these skins is a wonderful tribute to Diablo and could serve as an introduction to the series for Overwatch 2 players.

Lilith Moira

Inarius Pharah

The Lilith skin for Moira takes the spotlight in this Diablo 4 crossover. It has been the focal point of promotional materials for this season and was leaked before an official announcement. In Diablo 4, Lilith is recognized as the Mother of Sanctuary. She is the daughter of Mephisto, one of the three Prime Evils, and is responsible for creating the world of Sanctuary as a haven amidst the conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. This Overwatch 2 adaptation enhances Moira with Lilith's iconic horns and graceful robe, a fitting representation for two characters renowned for inflicting both agony and delight.

In the Diablo series, Inarius is the counterpart to Lilith, who was both his former lover and co-creator of Sanctuary. Inarius, an angel from the High Heavens, grew disillusioned with the war against the Burning Hells. He shared a common goal with Lilith and together they created Sanctuary, along with its inhabitants called the nephalem. However, Inarius eventually betrayed Lilith and banished her to the void. This betrayal was aimed at reducing the growing power of the nephalem. As a result, their descendants came to view Inarius as the noble savior of Sanctuary and worship him within the Cathedral of Light. Pharah's role in Overwatch aligns with Inarius, as she embodies the virtuous paragon.

Azmodan Wrecking Ball

The Diablo universe is home to three powerful entities known as the Prime Evils: Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal. Together, they serve as the Triune rulers of the Burning Hells. Accompanying them are four Lesser Evils: Duriel, Andariel, Belial, and Azmodan, who act as secondary rulers. Frustrated with the Prime Evils' approach to the ongoing war, Azmodan plotted alongside Belial to rebel against them. Utilizing his cunning intellect as a tactician, Azmodan devised a plan to undermine the Prime Evils and bring an end to the stalemate with the High Heavens. In a similar vein, Wrecking Ball, thanks to Hammond's enhanced intelligence, possesses formidable skills as a warrior and strategist, aptly equipped to handle the challenges at hand. Both Azmodan and Wrecking Ball share a round physique adorned with spider-like appendages.

Imperius Reinhardt

Imperius may not be the most prominent figure in the Diablo series, but he holds great significance as the Archangel of Valor and the de facto ruler of the High Heavens. Renowned for his courage in the battle against the Burning Hells, Imperius led the Heavenly Host to numerous triumphs against the armies of Hell. However, he was unable to defend the High Heavens from Diablo's invasion in Diablo 3. Similarly, Reinhardt earned a reputation for valor as a Crusader during the Omnic Crisis, but he, too, overestimated his abilities and failed to protect Eichenwalde castle.
