According to a recent ratings board leak, it appears that Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster will not only be available on the Nintendo Switch as previously announced, but also on PC. Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, which was initially released in Japan in 2003, received mostly positive reviews during that time. It was followed by Baiten Kaitos Origins, also known as Baiten Kaitos 2, which garnered a similar positive response from fans of the genre.
For the past twenty years, Baiten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Baiten Kaitos Origins have been exclusively available on the Nintendo GameCube. However, Bandai Namco surprised fans earlier this year by announcing that both games would be returning in a special HD remaster collection. The announcement for Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster was made during a Nintendo Direct in February, and it has been widely assumed that these games would be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
However, there is now evidence suggesting that the highly anticipated Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster may be making its way to PC in addition to the Switch release later this year. The Film and Publication Board of South Africa seemed to inadvertently reveal the existence of a PC port for Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster, as reported by Gematsu. While this leak cannot be considered an official confirmation, leaks from ratings boards are typically reliable, giving fans a glimmer of hope that a PC version of the game is indeed in the works.
Only two remaining questions: when will the announcement be made for the Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster PC release and will it be on the same day as the Nintendo Switch version? Considering that Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster was announced during a Nintendo Direct and the original games were developed by Nintendo's Monolith Soft, it is likely that the collection will be a timed-Switch exclusive. Therefore, fans should not expect the PC port to be available simultaneously with the Nintendo Switch version unless an official announcement states otherwise. The timing of this announcement will probably be after the game's launch on Switch, whenever that may be.
There is excitement surrounding the Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster and the improvements it brings, but fans have expressed disappointment over the lack of an English dub. Nevertheless, fans of the games can anticipate playing the remaster on the Switch later this year, while PC players may have to wait for a port on their preferred platform.
Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster will launch September 19 for Nintendo Switch.
