Warhammer 40k: Tacticus is an innovative mobile game that puts players in control of a diverse range of characters from various Warhammer factions. They can engage in thrilling battles against AI opponents, face off in intense arena matches, or even challenge other players. The game is constantly evolving, with new characters regularly introduced. From iconic Space Marines to the formidable Thousand Sons, Tyranids, and Dark Angels, the extensive character lineup of Warhammer 40k: Tacticus can be initially overwhelming.
One of the standout features of Tacticus is that the most powerful characters are not necessarily limited to the Epic and Legendary rarities. Players have the opportunity to unlock common or uncommon characters and elevate them to the Rare or Epic tiers, where they can truly shine. Unlocking a multitude of characters is remarkably straightforward, making Tacticus the ultimate mobile game for avid Warhammer enthusiasts.
9 Commissar Yarrick
New players have the option to unlock this character by spending a few dollars. If they are willing to spend money, it is definitely worth it. In Tacticus, summons are a crucial and powerful ability, and Commissar Yarrick excels in summoning. This Astra Militarum soldier can summon numerous units that can also attack simultaneously. It is a great advantage, as long as players do not face him.
One weakness of Commissar Yarrick is that he has slightly less base health compared to other characters. However, he is still a formidable choice, allowing players to easily progress through the Indomitus Campaign. Whether in campaigns or multiplayer, Commissar Yarrick is an essential and strong addition to any successful Tacticus lineup.
8 Roswitha
Roswitha excels as a boss contender in Guild Raids due to her formidable capabilities. She possesses stellar basic attack damage and boasts impressive durability. Her special ability unleashes a torrent of fire damage, twice as potent against daemons, with an added bonus of increased damage. As a member of the esteemed Adepta Sororitas faction, Roswitha typically becomes available early in the game.
Despite her many strengths, acquiring Roswitha's character shards proves challenging for advancing her level. These shards can be obtained through chance arena drops or requisition summons. Nevertheless, her ranged and melee attacks both offer excellent high-damage options, and her character design is truly remarkable.
7 Aleph-Null
Aleph-Null, a character in Warhammer 40k:Tacticus, stands out as the superior Necron character and one of the top contenders in the entire game. Its special ability allows the summoning of two scarab swarms near an enemy target, attacking immediately on the same turn. The scarabs inflict substantial damage, particularly against characters vulnerable to energy damage. Adding to its potency, the scarabs possess a chance to reproduce at the beginning of each turn, constantly bolstering friendly units on the field as long as the scarabs survive.
Given the scarabs' resilience, it is common to witness a battle zone inundated with these units unless the opponent possesses a suitable counter character. However, beyond this overwhelming sight, Aleph-Null possesses the additional capability to heal itself or other Necron units every turn. Furthermore, when positioned adjacent to friendly units, it possesses a passive healing ability.
6 Archimatos
The Black Legion's "Master of Possession," Archimatos, is an early-game chaos unit of immense power. As a summoning unit, he has the ability to spawn up to four daemons that surround an enemy unit, granted there is enough space for them. Though these daemons deliver hefty damage, their lack of durability means they have a short lifespan.
Archimatos also possesses a passive ability. When he eliminates an enemy unit, he summons a friendly daemon in its place. Whether through ranged or melee attacks, he inflicts psychic damage and delivers significant impact when the situation calls for it. Particularly valuable in guild raids and arena battles, Archimatos is a versatile choice for various scenarios.
5 Maugan Ra
Maugan Ra, the "Dark Reapher Phoenix Lord," is a formidable addition to Tacticus. This Aeldari unit strikes an imposing figure with his tall, muscular skeleton frame and massive firearm. His passive ability is widely regarded as one of the game's best features. When Maugan Ra remains stationary during a turn, his ranged attacks bypass any hit reduction effects and come with an increased chance of critical damage.
Additionally, Maugan Ra's normal ability is highly effective. He can release a rapid onslaught of precise shuriken projectiles, dealing substantial damage to each nearby enemy. If Maugan Ra has not made any movements prior, he can land additional hits. Players can utilize Maugan Ra as a robust tank unit by strategically positioning him on the battlefield, enabling them to unleash remarkable damage through his exceptional abilities.
4 Re'vas
Re'vas is a unique unit belonging to the Tau faction, making her easily accessible and a valuable character. Her special ability allows her to summon two Tau shield drones in adjacent hexes, capable of launching immediate melee attacks. Additionally, this ability puts Re'vas in an overwatch state, enabling her to counter-attack any enemy units that approach her in the following turn.
By upgrading her ability, the shield drones become increasingly formidable with enhanced stats. Re'vas also possesses the Cyclic Ion Blaster, a powerful weapon that deals substantial damage, particularly to targets marked with a markerlight. When paired with other summoning characters, Re'vas becomes part of an unstoppable force capable of causing devastating chaos.
3 Bellator
Warhammer 40k: Tacticus introduces an unexpectedly powerful character right from the start - Bellator. As an ultramarine unit, Bellator possesses the unique ability to summon clones around an enemy, granting the player additional friendly units. The only requirement is that all adjacent spaces to the enemy must be unoccupied. These clones actively attack enemies at the beginning of each turn. However, there is a limitation; Bellator can only summon one clone for every certain number of turns passed in the battle.
The summoning aspect plays a significant role in the Tacticus meta, contributing to Bellator's strength. Additionally, his impressive stats make him a formidable force. With high base health and resilient armor resistance against various attacks, Bellator becomes even more challenging to defeat. Competing opponents will prioritize neutralizing him before he can unleash his summoning ability.
2 Celestine
Celestine, a revered member of the Adepta Sororitas and known as the "Living Saint," holds immense power as a Legendary character. One of her remarkable abilities is to summon a holographic clone known as the Geminae Superia whenever she is attacked. This clone acts as a shield, absorbing the damage intended for Celestine. Remarkably, Celestine can summon this clone twice throughout the course of the game, making it challenging for opponents to inflict damage on her.
Here are some pro tips that you should know for Warhammer 40K:
1 Ahriman
She possesses a considerable amount of base health and wields formidable melee attacks. Yet, it is her exceptional damage absorption, which often brings about frustration among opponents, that truly distinguishes her as an outstanding character. Furthermore, her divine design is remarkably captivating, featuring a pair of resplendent golden wings that gracefully span across the hexagonal battleground.
Enlisting Ahriman from the Thousand Sons faction alongside a character who inflicts fire damage or ignites enemies will unleash the full might of their team. Ahriman's primary ability unleashes a powerful psychic assault, dealing three times the usual amount of damage to all foes within a two-hex range. By improving this skill, the devastation inflicted upon nearby units becomes truly catastrophic. Furthermore, an additional strike is dealt for each battlefield hex set ablaze.
This becomes particularly valuable when paired with his passive ability. Whenever an enemy unit occupies a hex with fire or is subjected to fire/psychic damage, the damage is enhanced by a minimum of 30%. Ahriman also has the ability to ignite hexes, providing a significant opportunity to inflict additional damage with these skills.
