Unveiling the Spectacularly Remastered Maps of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - An Epic Visual Journey

Relive the nostalgia as MW3 unveils its highly anticipated remastered maps from the iconic MW2 Step into 2023 and witness the stunning visual enhancements that bring these beloved battlegrounds to life once again

Activision has released a new video and blog post showcasing the multiplayer maps of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. These maps are a reimagined version of the ones from Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. With the launch of Modern Warfare 3 on November 10, players can expect all 16 of these remastered maps to be available. These classic maps, including Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland, have been given a modernized look for this rebooted version of the game.

In the following video clip, Sledgehammer Games' Art Director Matt Abbott and Design Director Zach Hodson emphasize the significance of maintaining the essence of the original maps while incorporating modern mechanics from recent Call of Duty titles. For instance, popular map Highrise will offer the familiar experience that fans anticipate, while also providing improved accessibility for climbing and reaching difficult ledges and sniper spots.

Moreover, Activision's blog highlights that operators can now employ tactical sprinting and rooftop traversal, as well as effectively navigate narrow pathways using tactical stances. These enhancements aim to enhance players' confidence and enjoyment during intense, close-quarters battles.

In Modern Warfare 3, the developer has utilized advanced engine and design technology to enhance the graphics of the maps. This includes improved enemy visibility and heightened levels of detail. While players can still experience a sense of nostalgia, certain aspects of the maps have been altered. For instance, Favela now features different vehicle models along its streets, and the original dirt-and-grass soccer pitch has been replaced with a smooth blue acrylic-coated blacktop.

Furthermore, it is important to mention that Activision has built the Modern Warfare 3 versions of the maps from scratch. This means that these versions were not simply modified from remastered editions found in other maps or games, like Terminal, Rust, and Highrise, which can currently be encountered on Warzone's Al Mazrah map.

Modern Warfare 3 will feature 16 remastered maps for standard core modes. Additionally, it will introduce four "massive environments," with three designated for Ground War and Invasion maps, and one created specifically for the return of Call of Duty: WWII's War mode. Further details will be revealed during Call of Duty: Next on October 5. Stay updated by reviewing the previously announced information for Modern Warfare 3. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Visit here for beta information.
