In the past eight years, fans have eagerly yearned for CD Projekt Red to revisit the fantasy universe.

In March 2022, fans' wishes were finally granted. CD Projekt Red announced the arrival of a new Witcher saga, set to be a trilogy. During the initial announcement, CD Projekt Red provided minimal information, apart from an iconic image of an unfamiliar Witcher medallion resting in the snow. Although no new official details have emerged, fans have discerned the significance of this enigmatic medallion and what it implies for the upcoming Witcher saga.

How The Witcher 4's Lynx Medallion Could Set Up The New Saga

A Witcher's medallion holds immense significance in their identity, serving not only as a practical tool for detecting magic but also as a symbol representing the school they attended. The Witcher books, on which the games are based, introduce seven confirmed Witcher schools, each associated with a distinct animal and characterized by a unique combat style inspired by that animal. Throughout the Witcher series, Geralt, a member of the Wolf school, encounters various Witchers from different regions, some bearing different medallions.
