Shang Tsung, known by many fans as the ultimate villain in the Mortal Kombat series, is a formidable sorcerer capable of stealing souls. He initially appeared as the main adversary and unbeatable final boss in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game. Subsequently, he became a playable character in Mortal Kombat 2 and made appearances in several other games within the series. Despite his wicked nature, some fans have developed a soft spot for this malevolent sorcerer, especially given his transformation into an anti-hero in later games.

The developers of Mortal Kombat 1 have confirmed that Shang Tsung will be a playable character, but his role as the main antagonist has not been officially confirmed. However, a recent clip from the game's stress test on Twitter has sparked speculation about who the main villain might be. In the clip, two players controlling Liu Kang engage in character selection, and one of them asks about the existence of Onaga in their timeline. The other Liu Kang reveals that not only does Onaga exist in his timeline, but he also rules over it.

Onaga, also known as the Dragon King, was once the ruler of Outworld. He first appeared as the main villain in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and later became a playable character in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Despite his demise, Onaga has remained a beloved character in the Mortal Kombat universe and is highly favored by fans. He is renowned for his immense power and is considered one of the strongest characters in the game's lore. Many fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Onaga in Mortal Kombat 1.

This recent footage does not confirm the character's return, leaving room for speculation. The interaction between the two Liu Kang players could simply be a subtle reference to the deceased Dragon King, without any further significance.
