Barry Bennell, a former football coach convicted of child sexual abuse, has passed away while being held in HMP Littlehey, located near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Bennell, who was rumored to be battling cancer, was serving a 34-year prison sentence at the time of his death.
Barry Bennell, who had been convicted of sexually assaulting boys on five different occasions (four in the UK and one in the United States), was incarcerated and later died in HMP Littlehey on September 16, 2023. Following his death, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation, as is standard protocol for all deaths that occur while in custody.
