Life on Earth may have been extinguished due to the reckless actions of Doctor Victor Aiza, but miraculously, several of the planet's renowned landmarks managed to endure. By exploring the vast universe of Starfield and collecting specific items, players can have the opportunity to visit these resilient structures, such as the Shanghai Tower in China.
Much like many other landmarks on Earth, the Shanghai Tower has weathered its fair share of hardships. Despite the devastation that swallowed the city it once called home, leaving it engulfed in dust and debris, this iconic tower continues to proudly pierce the desolate skyline, serving as a poignant reminder to Starfield players of the days when humanity thrived on this planet before venturing into space.
How to Visit the Shanghai Tower (Shanghai Landmark)
In order to visit the Shanghai Tower in Starfield, players must first locate a copy of a book titled Essentials of Modern Macroeconomics. Luckily, this task can be easily accomplished by traveling to a planet known as Porrima II in the Porrima star system, which is situated northeast of Volii on the player's star map.
Upon entering the planet's orbit, players will come across an unfamiliar spaceship known as the ECS Constant. To proceed with their mission, players should dock with the Constant. This action will initiate the First Contact side quest, but players are advised to disregard it for the time being. Instead, they should proceed by taking the elevator up to the Residential Level, and subsequently ascend to the classroom using another elevator. Once inside the classroom, they will discover a copy of the book "Essentials of Modern Macroeconomics" positioned in front of the whiteboard.
After acquiring the book, players will gain access to the Visit the Shanghai Landmark objective within the Earth activity. Regrettably, they will be unable to swiftly travel away from the ECS Constant and will therefore need to navigate back to their ship and disengage before being able to plot a course towards Earth. However, once this is done, it is a straightforward matter of selecting the Shanghai Landmark landing spot from the map screen.
The Shanghai Tower, though weathered, is still highly noticeable even from a distance, particularly in Starfield where its prominence is amplified by the desolate surroundings. Players can use Starfield's Photo Mode to capture images of the tower and can also discover the Shanghai snow globe positioned on a rock at the tower's foundation. Starfield is currently accessible for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
