Makeup delves into various topics concerning gender identity and mental health, with friendship and acceptance as its core. While Dan yearns to express his true self, he encounters several individuals in the film who scorn his interests. André spoke with Screen Rant about the film's theme of acceptance, stating:

Being kind to someone doesn't require much effort. Accepting others doesn't require much either. They aren't disrupting your life in any way. It's almost as if there's this inexplicable hostility and ill will forced upon them for no reason. Including this aspect was important because it happens. It happens frequently. Not only in relation to gender identity, but in various other ways—people simply being overly judgmental. This is something we aim to showcase in the film and raise awareness about. In reality, it's incredibly simple to adopt the opposite approach and show love towards our fellow human beings.

Makeup, the first full-length feature film from Red Blazer Productions, is distributed by Freestyle Digital Media. In addition to Makeup, Red Blazer Productions has also worked on various short films including Community Service, If Not Freedom, Blind Innocence, 4 Queens, and Soul Forest. With a runtime of 90 minutes, Makeup features a talented cast including Kent Goldfinch, Lloyd Mundell, Zak Watson-Smith, Adam Starkey, Julia Anwuli Sydenham, Stuart Wolfe-Murray, Pete Inskip, Maria Lidze, Edward Saunders, Louis Circé, Ezekiel Martin, Charlie Baker, and Lawrence Visconti.
