How to Get Past the Doors

Confront the Forgotten

Disney Dreamlight Valley has been heavily focused on the theme of Forgetting since its Early Access. The recent updates have delved deeper into the story, revealing the cause behind the Forgetting. Players can progress through the game and eventually unlock the quest "The Forgotten Relics", which leads to the final story quest that concludes the current story arc. In "The Dark Castle", players must utilize the lost possessions of the Forgotten to enter its territory and rescue Dreamlight Valley from its grasp. This guide will assist players in successfully completing "The Dark Castle".

Give the Relics to Merlin

Go Through the Portal

To activate the enchantment, it's crucial to deliver the Forgotten Relics to Merlin. Once you've located him, he'll guide you to the plaza where the relics can be utilized to open a portal.

As you make your way towards the portal, be prepared for the cutscene that follows. Once it's over, cross the bridge and head straight into the castle. You'll encounter several Night Thorns that block your path towards a glowing purple door. It's advisable to carry some food with you to replenish your Energy levels.

How to Get Past the Doors

Equip the Thorn set acquired by leveling up to pass through the door. The set includes the wings and crown, which must also be equipped. After interacting with the door again, players can proceed. Once through, players can change their outfit if desired. Ascend the stairs and eliminate any Night Thorns blocking the path, but it's unnecessary to defeat them all. Take a left at the top of the stairs to find a cooking fire and a table with fresh ingredients. Further ahead, a door requires an item and a note to the left indicates that feeding the door may be necessary.

Approach the table adorned with an array of ingredients. Dark Castle Lettuce, Dark Castle Garlic, Dreamlight Salt, and Thorn Sprout all await your selection. To the right of the cooking fire, a helpful note provides guidance on how to utilize the ingredients displayed before you.

Create a Night Thorn Sprout Salad by cooking together one Dreamlight Salt, one Thorn Sprout, and one Dark Castle Lettuce to successfully pass the second door, Doorine. Once beyond the door, head up the stairs and take a right while removing any Night Thorns blocking the way. A space for a door will be visible up ahead, but it will be missing. To the right, there is a note on a pedestal that provides a hint to make the door appear. Simply take a selfie using the camera to bring the door into view.

Pick up the tiki torch lying on the ground after passing through the door, which will increase the torch count on the inventory screen by three. To unlock the door, arrange the torches in a specific order. Begin by inserting the Night Torch into the pedestal on the left side of the key. Next, place the Dusk Torch into the pedestal located to the right of the Night Torch. Finally, position the Noon Torch on the pedestal to the right of the Dusk Torch.

Destroy the ice with the Royal Pickaxe and retrieve the Dawn Torch. Insert the torch into the last pedestal to make the key drop into the water. Employ the Royal Fishing Rod to retrieve the key and use it to unlock the door.

Confront the Forgotten

Approaching the door, players are immediately thrust into a cutscene where they encounter the Forgotten once more. Following a short exchange, players should head towards the Forgotten and engage in another conversation before making their way towards the sandbox. To activate the 'Focus magic' command, players must interact with the sandbox and then speak to the Forgotten again. Continuing on, players should search for another illuminated area featuring a bed, where they must once again use the same process as before. Finally, players should follow the Forgotten to yet another lit spot, this time featuring a desk, and use 'Focus magic' yet again.

At the next spotlight, players will come across a bookshelf. Follow the same procedure as the previous areas. Although players will be presented with an option at this point, it won't have any significant impact. This will initiate a cutscene that concludes the quest and displays the credits. Don't forget to watch until the end, as there is a short cutscene after the credits wrap up.
