In the previous episode, Season 1 reached its climax as Mina, the AI in charge of the nursery, hinted at an upcoming "test" for the children, unbeknownst to the facility staff. Now, chaos reigns in the nursery, while Kiruko and Maru reach the end of their journey, setting the stage for what's to come.

Doubt creeps in as they ponder if they are trapped in a dream, prompting them to undergo a thorough application procedure to gain entry into this mysterious town. Meanwhile, the editing cleverly interweaves scenes from future events, adding suspense and anticipation to the narrative.

Inquisitive as ever, Kiruko inquires about Robin, but this time she receives an unexpected response. Conveying Reunion
The build-up to the reunion between Kiruko and Robin in this new episode is truly remarkable. Despite the limited introduction of Robin's character in Episode 3 and a few fleeting appearances such as flashbacks or a brief cameo last week, the way Kiruko's character is portrayed and animated makes it impossible not to feel her nervousness and excitement.

These scenes are precisely where Kensuke Ushio excels as a composer. The atmosphere he creates in his tracks has the ability to elicit the most indescribable emotions that lie beneath the surface of even the most subtly powerful moments. Tragically, his music can just as easily capture the sense of dread that accompanies the realization that someone we have longed to see for so long is not who we had envisioned them to be.

This episode stands out as one of the season's finest and undoubtedly one of the most unsettling, particularly due to its gripping conclusion. The turmoil in the nursery is a thread that has only been lightly explored so far, with the staff struggling to make sense of the situation, the mix-up of the two babies, and the children's discovery of a world beyond their own.
Ultimately, the two timelines have never been more intricately woven together, leaving us with the burning question of how they will converge thematically in the final episode.
