Google has finally unveiled its much-awaited foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold. The device was announced on the Made by Google Twitter account with a render video showcasing its book-style folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. This confirms previous leaks that hinted at its launch at the upcoming Google I/O event, scheduled for May 10. While most foldable devices on the market follow a similar design, with either a book-style or flip phone-like layout, the Pixel Fold is expected to offer unique features and capabilities.
Details about the phone's hardware and camera specifications have not been disclosed yet. However, rumors suggest that the phone will feature a 5.79-inch cover display and a 7.68-inch internal screen. It is expected to have two cameras on the back and one camera positioned above the internal display. The design of the phone's back closely resembles that of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, with a large visor-like section housing the cameras. Like other folding phones, the Pixel Fold may be more expensive and delicate than traditional non-folding flagship smartphones. Despite this, initial impressions suggest that its durability is on par with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which is commendable.
