Written by Makiko Nagaoka and illustrated by Magako, Our Dating Story is a Japanese romance light novel series that began publication in September 2020 under Fujimi Shobo's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation followed in February 2022, serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Online web service, and the series was then picked up by ENGI for an anime adaptation.

While neither the anime studio ENGI nor the animation staff have hinted at the second season's production, the potential for additional story arcs in the future is strong. The anime's ratings also suggest a high chance of a second season being animated, as it received a rating of 6.76, which is notably high for ENGI's anime adaptations. Only two of ENGI's anime adaptations have received a rating of over seven on MyAnimeList, further indicating the potential for a second season to be produced.

In terms of the source material, the series consists of a total of seven light novel volumes. With the first season covering around half of the source material, there may be sufficient content for a second season. However, the anime studio may choose to wait for more source material to be released before announcing the adaptation of a second season.
When can fans expect Our Dating Story season 2 to be released?
Despite this, it is not certain that ENGI will proceed with the adaptation of the series. Therefore, until an official announcement is issued, it cannot be definitively stated that ENGI will produce the second season. There is also the chance that the anime may be terminated.

With the series's first season consisting of 12 episodes, it is highly likely that a sequel season, if produced, will also have a similar number of episodes. Typically, a 12-episode anime takes about a year to be animated, so it is reasonable to expect a newly announced anime to debut approximately a year later.
If Our Dating Story season 2 is announced in 2024, fans can anticipate the series to be released in 2025 or 2026, pending confirmation from the anime studio.
