Fans protest recasting of Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3, claiming "No SRK, No Don"
Social media reactions show disagreement with Farhan Akhtar replacing Shah Rukh Khan.
Supporters argue that Shah Rukh Khan's swag, aura, and voice are irreplaceable in the Don franchise.
Bollywood fans are currently expressing their discontent on social media over the decision to replace superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film, Don 3. This movie is the latest addition to the long-standing Don franchise that first started in 1978. In the 2006 movie Don: The Chase Begins Again, Shah Rukh Khan played the dual lead roles of Mark Donald (also known as Don) and Vijay Pal, a doppelganger hired to infiltrate the criminal world of the main antagonist. The film was followed by the 2011 sequel Don 2, which also featured Khan.
Recent news revealed that Ranveer Singh will be taking over the role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. However, loyal fans of the original films are voicing their objections on social media. Some of their reactions can be seen below:
Ramen shared a meme using a goofy cartoon dragon to represent Ranveer Singh taking over for SRK.
Jay shared a similar meme of a dancer struggling to keep up with two other dancers.
Steven argued that SRK's "aura [can't] be matched with any one."
Just a Fan said that the new movie won't "find the replacement" for SRK's X factor.
