Not traditional round-based Zombies

Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode offers a unique twist on the traditional round-based experience by introducing large-scale extraction gameplay. It combines elements from both Zombies and MW2's DMZ, resulting in a thrilling and action-packed mode. Unlike the standard gameplay, this mode is specifically designed for trios in a PvE environment. You also have the option to team up with other squads as matches can accommodate up to eight squads of three, totaling 24 players. However, for those seeking an even greater challenge, you can choose to take on the mode solo.

With this new open-world environment, you have the freedom to choose your preferred style of play. You can either join matches with the sole intention of annihilating the undead or opt for an immersive experience by engaging in Dark Aether story missions, pursuing contracts, and much more. The world is filled with a variety of adversaries, ranging from the typical zombies to a faction of human soldier NPCs, as well as the notorious mimic creature from Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

MW3's Zombies storyline

This year's narrative continues the gripping Dark Aether storyline from Black Ops Cold War. Operation Deadbolt, initiated in response to the outbreaks witnessed during the Cold War, becomes a crucial part of the overarching narrative.

With Operation Deadbolt, select members of Task Force 141 must thwart Viktor Zakhaev, an antagonist from Modern Warfare 2019, who has induced an epidemic of the undead using a vial of Aetherium. This substance, which creates zombies, bears striking resemblance to the Dark Aether crystals from the previous storyline. However, it has now been enhanced to a more lethal state. Task Force 141 has the crucial task of uncovering Zakhaev's elaborate plans for the outbreak and Aetherium.

This gripping new mode takes place on Warzone's expansive Urzikstan map, surpassing all previous Zombies maps in size and boasting a larger horde of zombies than ever before. Urzikstan is a vibrant urban location, featuring 11 prominent points of interest, such as cities, a farm, and a military base. Wonder weapons, perks, and more

The Zombies map in MW3 will retain its core features, including the mystery box, iconic perk, and the Pack-a-Punch machine. Players can expect the return of classic Wonder weapons, along with a new addition called the Scorcher. This versatile weapon not only has the ability to eliminate zombies but can also be used as a means of mobility to traverse the map in a unique manner. Moreover, Black Ops Cold War's upgrade system makes a comeback, enabling players to level up perks, field upgrades, and ammo types for even greater advantages.

Similar to DMZ, players can equip themselves with perks, Pack-a-Punched weapons, and retain these items for future matches by successfully extracting from the map. This even includes legendary weapons like the ray gun and the newly introduced Scorcher.

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and the introduction of the Zombies mode to the Modern Warfare series. The promise of a unique twist on the traditional round-based Zombies format has me eagerly anticipating the new gameplay experience. The combination of elements from both Zombies and MW2's DMZ, resulting in a thrilling and action-packed mode specifically designed for trios in a PvE environment, sounds incredibly exciting. The option to team up with other squads or take on the mode solo adds even more depth and flexibility to the gameplay.

The expansive open-world environment of Warzone's Urzikstan map, surpassing all previous Zombies maps in size and boasting a larger horde of zombies than ever before, is another aspect that has me hyped. The variety of adversaries, ranging from the typical zombies to a faction of human soldier NPCs, as well as the notorious mimic creature from Black Ops Cold War Zombies, promises to keep the gameplay challenging and engaging. The continuation of the gripping Dark Aether storyline from Black Ops Cold War adds an additional layer of intrigue and depth to the mode.
