Upon completing All That Money Can Buy in Starfield, players will leave the corrupt city of Neon behind, only to be faced with a new and unexpected challenge. A mysterious ship appears before them, demanding the recently acquired Artifact. How the player handles this situation in Starfield becomes a pivotal aspect.
The Starborn mission is a major quest in Starfield, both short and captivating. It raises intriguing queries about the existence of extraterrestrial life beyond humanity's current understanding in the year 2300. The 'Starborn' present an interesting dilemma and a formidable danger.
Dealing With The Helix
Players are unable to leave the orbit of Neon while being trapped within the confines of the Helix. Regardless of what players attempt to communicate to the alien vessel, they will not allow an escape unless the Artifact is surrendered or they meet their demise. There are some actions the player can take to deter their aggressor, as well as some actions they should avoid.
The initial option is to surrender the Artifact, however, it is strongly advised against doing so. Alternatively, players have the choice to jettison the Artifact, causing it to fall into the possession of the Starborn. Despite this, future encounters with the Starborn will not result in them being any less hostile. Additionally, the crew members of the Constellation will hold disdain towards the player for succumbing to coercion and relinquishing an obviously valuable item.
Choosing to attack the ship is not a wise decision. The Helix is well-equipped with strong defenses, including a sturdy hull and shields. It also possesses powerful attacks and the ability to become invisible and teleport, making it a formidable enemy that is difficult to track and destroy. Even if the player manages to win the battle, the Helix will escape, leaving the players with no rewards for their efforts. It's not advisable to engage in a fight with a ship whose capabilities and the species on board are unknown.
The third and most optimal choice is to utilize the Grav Drive. Walter advises the player to activate the Grav Drive and retreat. While some players might be hesitant to flee from a confrontation, this is the most logical course of action. Given the superior power of the ship, the players should aim to demonstrate their non-hostile intentions if the vessel is indeed of extraterrestrial origin. The best approach is to employ evasive maneuvers to avoid Helix's missiles and laser fire while waiting for the Grav Drive to become operational.
Talk To Noel
To address the imminent threat in the galaxy, players should promptly head to the Lodge and engage in a conversation with Noel. By sharing their data records with Noel, players enable the Constellation members to witness the ship they encountered. This triggers a surge of inquiries regarding the ship's identity and the reasons behind the Artifacts being hidden from the Constellation.
Players have the opportunity to delve into a discussion with the crew regarding the nature and symbolism of this vessel. Are its occupants extraterrestrial beings, time travelers, beings from another dimension, or perhaps even celestial entities? The topic is both profound and captivating, as players can ultimately seek Sarah's insights to explore the various possibilities.
Add The Artifact To The Collection
To complete the mission, players simply need to place their newly acquired Artifact piece on the table in the library of the Lodge. Doing so will successfully finish the mission, rewarding players with Credits and XP, allowing them to enhance their skills and progress to higher ranks for more effective combat against the enigmas of outer space.
Starfield is currently accessible on PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
