Ichikawa Kyotaro, a socially marginalized boy in school, privately envisions himself as the tormented protagonist of a psychological thriller. The first season of the anime was directed by Hiroaki Akagi at Shin-Ei Animation studios. Jukki Hanada was responsible for the scripts, Masato Katsumata designed the characters, and Kensuke Ushio composed the music. The series featured the opening theme "Shayo," performed by Yorushika, and the ending theme "Su Sentimental," performed by Kohana Lam. Protagonist Kyotaro Ichikawa was voiced by Shun Hori, and deuteragonist Anna Yamada was voiced by Hina Yomiya. The series initially debuted in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, later moving to Champion Cross in 2018, and eventually finding its permanent serialization in the Manga Cross publication.
