Surprisingly, the company is now venturing into physical store locations, as affirmed in a recent Bloomberg report. With the ample funds generated from recent price hikes, Netflix is keen on establishing immersive destinations known as "Netflix Houses." These unique establishments will encompass a blend of retail, dining, and live experiences, offering fans an opportunity to delve into the captivating worlds of their beloved Netflix series. Imagine a compact amusement park solely dedicated to Netflix content, where you can browse an array of show-inspired merchandise, savor delectable cuisine, and even partake in a Squid Game-themed obstacle course. It's an entirely different concept from retail giants like Walmart and holds no resemblance to the now-defunct Blockbuster. One could draw a loose comparison to DisneyQuest, a concept initiated by Disney to establish a chain of indoor theme parks. Regrettably, DisneyQuest didn't experience immense success.
Netflix has previously organized pop-up fan experiences in various cities worldwide. However, the upcoming Netflix Houses locations will be permanent and undergo regular changes and renovations based on the popularity of shows and premieres on the platform. This move is part of Netflix's ongoing efforts to market its shows and cultivate a community of dedicated fans. These physical locations will be particularly beneficial for the company's major upcoming releases once they are ready. Josh Simon, the company's vice president of consumer products, stated that they have observed fans' enthusiasm for immersing themselves in the world of Netflix's movies and TV shows, prompting them to consider ways to elevate the experience even further. Netflix aims to open the first locations in the United States by 2025 and later expand the concept to additional global locations.
