In the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, the central focus lies on the malevolent animatronics that come alive after dark to exact their vengeance. Below, we provide a detailed description of the chilling metallic companions featured in the film.
Once known as a beloved children's pizza establishment akin to Chuck E Cheese, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza boasted a collection of distinctive animatronic characters. However, FNAF transforms these innocent figures into sinister individuals, embodying the darkest horrors of serial killers.
Freddy’s mascot is Freddy Fazbear, a teddy bear-like character wearing a top hat who also happens to be the lead singer of the band. But Freddy doesn't go solo, he's part of a crew which includes Bonnie the Rabbit, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox.
In the movie, these central animatronic characters from the FNAF games are also present. However, for those who are not acquainted with their histories and backgrounds, here's a summary. Proceed with caution: there may be mild spoilers!
Foxy the Pirate
Universal Pictures
Foxy the Pirate, also known as Fox, was an animatronic inspired by a fox and adorned with pirate characteristics such as an eye patch and a hook for a hand. He served as one of the main antagonists and was possessed by one of the children killed by William Afton. In the FNAF movie, the animatronics perfectly mirrored their video game counterparts. While Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie entertained on the main stage, Foxy had his own separate stage in the pizza parlor.
Chica the Chicken
After years of residing in a deserted Freddy's establishment, Foxy, the animatronic character, displays patches of his reddish fur missing on his exterior. In contrast to an actual fox, Foxy lacks a tail but possesses the same piercing and eerie eyes as the other animatronics.
Universal Pictures
As her name describes, the FNAF animatronic is a chicken who wears a bib and has a cute yet scary cupcake companion.
Chica, like the rest of the band, assumes the role of a backup singer onstage. Positioned to the left of Freddy, she sports a shabby and aged fur, adorned with a bib that reads "Let's Eat." Remarkably, Chica also holds an animatronic cupcake, complete with eyes. It is worth noting that she, too, falls under the influence of one of the children that Afton mercilessly slaughtered.
This animatronic cupcake leads an autonomous existence and is capable of acting independently from Chica. Its teeth serve as its primary weapon. The games support the claim that Chica is possessed by a girl named Susie.
Bonnie the Rabbit
Universal Pictures
Bonnie the Rabbit is an animatronic rabbit characterized by its indigo/purple color. Known for being a prominent member of Freddy's band and the main antagonist in both the FNAF movie and video games.
As a vital part of the band's lineup, Bonnie fulfills the role of a backup member, skillfully playing the guitar and positioning himself on the right side of Freddy while performing on stage. Notably, in the FNAF movie, Bonnie's appearance leans more towards a blue hue rather than the predominant purple seen in the video games. It is suggested that Bonnie initially had a blue exterior in the games before being outfitted with a vibrant purple coat. Additionally, Bonnie completes its ensemble with a stylish bowtie.
Much like the rest of the animatronics in the movie, he too comes alive at night due to being possessed by one of the children.
Freddy Fazbear
Universal Pictures
Leading the murderous animatronics in the FNAF movie and games is Freddy Fazbear. He’s a bear-inspired character and the main singer of the band.
In the movie, it is evident that Freddy holds more power compared to the other characters due to his status as the original mascot of the pizza parlor. Similarly, he also desires revenge against any adult who enters the establishment for the mistreatment he suffered. It is apparent in the film that he too is under the control of one of Afton's victims.
Freddy is suspected to be possessed by Gabriel Boseman, Nicole's spirit, and potentially Michael Afton as portrayed in the games. The movie maintains his characteristic attire of a top hat and bowtie.
Spring Bonnie
Universal Pictures
In a surprising turn of events, a character from FNAF unexpectedly shows up in the film when the hidden identity of William Afton is exposed, revealing him as Spring Bonnie.
Towards the conclusion of the FNAF movie, the explanation regarding Vanessa's association with William is provided. In contrast to the games, William remains at large, assuming the persona of Steve Raglan (played by Matthew Lillard), a vocational advisor. As Mike endeavors to rescue his younger sister from transforming into an animatronic, he encounters William disguised as Spring Bonnie.
The movie presents the same yellow bunny character with a purple bowtie, but now in a more dilapidated state from years of being kept hidden. The games reveal that she was the original and earliest incarnation of Bonnie. William would utilize this suit to entice children and subsequently commit heinous acts of murder.
