I ensured that I had obtained the rights to use 'This Woman's Work' for that particular scene and we carefully scripted it to match the time code. We dedicated a significant amount of time to perfecting that sequence. It brings me great joy to witness Rhys emerging from the darkness underwater transformed into a merperson. The concept of being on the brink of death, trapped in purgatory, and hearing the comforting voice of a loved one pulling you back and appearing as a mythical creature is something that immediately resonated with all of us during our discussions.
At first, [Darby] was a bit hesitant, saying, 'Guys, I'm not so sure about this.' However, once he put on the costume, he realized how good he looked in it and became enthusiastic. Filming the underwater scenes was quite demanding and took up a significant portion of the day.
How Our Flag Means Death Handles Blackbeard's Near Death
Blackbeard, also known as Ed to Stede, faces a near-death experience when his crew turns against him due to his unpredictable and cruel behavior.
